Partners Life is one of New Zealand’s largest life and health insurance companies. As part of the Daiichi Life Group, a leading global insurance provider, we are writing our next chapter of growth and opportunity.

We know the industry needs bold thinkers and passionate people to help reshape the future of insurance, and that is exactly who we are looking for. We are committed to doing things differently, lifting industry standards, challenging the status quo, and delivering real value through innovation and personalised advice.

If you are looking to join a company that’s redefining the insurance landscape and backed by the strength of a global group, Partners Life is the place to grow your career and make a real impact.

About the opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Strategy Manager to help shape the future direction of Partners Life and strengthen how we turn strategy into action. Reporting to the Chief of Staff and working closely with senior leaders, you will influence organisation wide priorities, bring clarity to complex business decisions and translate strategic ambition into coordinated plans and measurable outcomes.

You will manage our strategic change portfolio and oversee our Integrated Planning and Assured Delivery framework, balancing competing priorities and constructively challenging thinking to support effective decisions. You will also lead market and competitor analysis, and deliver high-quality insights and recommendations for executive and governance audiences.

Your work will include:

  • Partner with senior leaders to develop strategic and functional plans aligned with organisational priorities

  • Manage the strategic portfolio and support prioritisation

  • Lead research and analysis to identify market trends, opportunities, threats and actionable insights

  • Develop performance measures and monitor progress against strategic outcomes

  • Track initiatives, milestones, benefits and risks, providing clear and timely reporting

  • Oversee the preparation of high-quality executive reports and presentations that summarise insights, trends, risks and recommendations

  • Implement best practices and drive continuous improvement in strategic planning and portfolio management

About you

You are a senior strategy professional who can move confidently between big picture planning, detailed analysis and practical delivery. You use sound judgement, build trusted relationships and communicate complex ideas clearly.

Comfortable navigating ambiguity and competing priorities, you influence decisions with evidence based insights, challenge thinking constructively and bring people together around shared outcomes.

We are looking for someone who brings:

5+ years’ experience in strategy consulting or an in-house strategy role

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in business, commerce or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

  • Experience in financial services, healthcare or another regulated environment

  • Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into practical recommendations

  • Experience with strategic planning, portfolio management and performance frameworks

  • Confidence using Excel and PowerPoint, along with data visualisation and AI tools

  • Excellent writing, facilitation, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills

At Partners Life, we believe our people are our greatest asset and are proud to invest in their growth, wellbeing and success. As part of our team, you’ll have access to a range of benefits, with eligibility varying by benefit and employment type:

  • Comprehensive training and ongoing support

  • Genuine learning and development opportunities

  • Participation in our discretionary bonus scheme after 12 months’ service (permanent employees only)

  • Life insurance and income protection covers at our cost, plus discounted medical insurance (permanent employees only)
