Their work spans a range of specialized applications, including polished concrete, resin and epoxy flooring, terrazzo, and other high-performance concrete finishes. As the business continues to expand its structural concrete capabilities, they are looking for a skilled Structural Concrete Estimator to support the pre-construction and tendering process. About the Role We are looking for a detail-oriented and commercially minded Structural Concrete Estimator to support the pricing and planning of structural concrete projects. You will be responsible for reviewing drawings and project documentation, preparing accurate quantity take-offs, developing cost estimates and quotations, and identifying potential project risks or requirements before work begins. You will also work closely with the team to ensure estimates are practical, competitive, and aligned with project requirements. This role will initially be part-time, 2–3 days per week, with the potential to increase to full-time as the business grows and project workload increases. Responsibilities Review structural, architectural, and engineering drawings to understand project scope and requirements. Prepare accurate quantity take-offs for structural concrete, reinforcement, formwork, and related scopes. Develop detailed cost estimates, quotations, and tender submissions for commercial and industrial projects. Identify discrepancies, missing information, and potential risks in project documentation and raise RFIs where required. Research and assess material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs to develop competitive and accurate estimates. Apply appropriate quantities, rates, productivity assumptions, and allowances when preparing estimates. Assist with initial project planning, including expected work sequences, resource requirements, and baseline timelines. Work with internal operations and project stakeholders to ensure estimates can be effectively transitioned into project execution. Maintain accurate estimating records and update pricing information as required. Support budgeting and cost planning throughout the project lifecycle. Competencies and Qualifications Must-Have 3+ years of experience in structural concrete estimating, reinforcement estimating, quantity surveying, or a closely related construction estimating role. Strong ability to read and interpret structural, architectural, and engineering drawings. Hands-on experience preparing quantity take-offs, cost estimates, quotations, and tender submissions. Understanding of reinforcement, concrete quantities, construction methods, labor requirements, and project costs. Strong Excel skills and familiarity with digital estimating/take-off tools such as Bluebeam or similar software. Ability to identify gaps or inconsistencies in drawings and project documentation and raise appropriate RFIs. Strong understanding of construction estimating principles and commercial considerations. Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy. Nice-to-Have Previous experience working on Australian construction or structural concrete projects. Experience with Australian reinforcement industry practices, suppliers, rates, and construction methods. Previous site experience in structural concrete or commercial construction. Experience with project scheduling tools such as MS Project or Primavera P6. Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. Experience with commercial or high-rise/mid-rise construction projects. Key Qualities Exceptional mathematical accuracy and sharp attention to detail under tight tender deadlines.
