Working hours: 10-15 hours/week

Employment type: Student Assistant

Language: English

Start date: As soon as possible

About the role

We are looking for a motivated and highly organized Business Development Student Assistant to join our startup and work closely with the founders on strategic and operational projects.

This is a hands-on role with significant exposure to business strategy, market analysis, fundraising preparation, investor materials, and startup operations. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of meaningful projects and gain a broad understanding of how an early-stage startup is built and scaled.

We are primarily looking for a student who has completed their Bachelor's degree and is currently pursuing an MSc at CBS or another relevant university.

The position is fully remote, but you should be based in the Copenhagen area, as occasional physical meetings may take place.

Your responsibilities

Depending on priorities and your interests, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting market research and competitive analysis
  • Developing and maintaining TAM / SAM / SOM analyses
  • Tracking market trends, competitors, technologies, and relevant developments in our field of innovation
  • Identifying and summarizing new innovations, technologies, companies, and market opportunities
  • Supporting the preparation and maintenance of our cap table
  • Supporting the establishment and administration of an ESOP
  • Building and improving business and investor presentation slides
  • Supporting the preparation of materials for investors, partners, and other stakeholders
  • Establishing and organizing a structured virtual data room
  • Collecting, structuring, and maintaining key company and market information
  • Supporting business development initiatives and identifying potential commercial opportunities
  • Conducting ad-hoc analyses and research to support strategic decision-making
  • Helping the founders turn complex information into clear, concise, and actionable insights

As an early-stage startup, priorities can change quickly. You should therefore be comfortable moving between different types of projects and taking initiative when new needs arise.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone who is curious, proactive, analytical, and entrepreneurial.

You don't need to have extensive professional experience. What matters most to us is your ability to learn quickly, take ownership, and deliver high-quality work.

You ideally:

  • Have completed your Bachelor's degree and are currently pursuing an MSc, preferably at CBS or another relevant university
  • Have a genuine interest in startups, entrepreneurship, business development, strategy, innovation, or venture capital
  • Are highly motivated, flexible, and adaptable
  • Are structured and organized, with strong attention to detail
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Are comfortable working independently and taking ownership of tasks
  • Are able to research, synthesize, and communicate information clearly
  • Have a strong commercial mindset and an interest in understanding how businesses create and capture value
  • Are comfortable working with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Have excellent written and spoken English
  • Are able to work in a remote environment and communicate effectively without constant supervision
  • Are comfortable working with incomplete information and figuring things out independently
  • Are curious about new technologies and able to quickly understand new concepts and emerging trends
  • Have a high level of reliability and accountability
  • Are not afraid to ask questions, challenge assumptions, or suggest better ways of doing things

A strong plus

A strong plus would be previous exposure to the pharmaceutical, biotech, drug development, life sciences, or healthcare industry. This could come from your studies, previous employment, an internship, research experience, a student organization, or another relevant experience.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have some understanding of drug development, the pharmaceutical industry, biotech innovation, or the broader life-science ecosystem, as this background will help you quickly understand our market and the opportunities we are pursuing.

Experience with financial modelling, market sizing, cap tables, ESOPs, fundraising, investor presentations, or data-room software is also a plus.

What we offer

  • A flexible 10-15-hour/week student position
  • Fully remote work with the possibility of occasional meetings in Copenhagen
  • Flexible organization of your working hours
  • Direct collaboration with the founders
  • Significant responsibility and the opportunity to take ownership of real projects
  • Exposure to startup strategy, fundraising, market analysis, and business development
  • The opportunity to learn how an early-stage company is built and scaled
  • A dynamic environment where your ideas and initiative can have a direct impact
  • A role that can develop with the company and with your own interests and capabilities

This is a particularly good opportunity for a student who wants to go beyond a traditional student job and gain practical experience in building a company from the ground up.

How to apply

Please send us your CV and a short motivation explaining why you are interested in the role and what you would bring to the team by email to career@alvaratx.com.
