Department Overview:

 The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (DFMCH) at the University of Wisconsin is a leading clinical department within the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH). DFMCH is dedicated to advancing patient care, education, and research. Our 18 clinics provides primary care to over 175,000 patients yielding over 374,000 patient visits annually, and we train more than 150 residents and 300 medical students each year. Schedule:

 The number of hours worked each week will be based on departmental needs and the student’s availability and academic schedule. The position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, with a combination of on-site and remote work.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

 Minimum: $18.00 per hour Maximum: $20.00 per hour

Qualifications:

 Degree in progress required. Preference will be given to candidates majoring in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Information Science, Data Science, or related fields.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Experience in Excel, Smartsheet, and AI applications highly desirable.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Potential Responsibilities
• Assisting with financial transactions, reconciliations, and other financial operations
• Organizing, reviewing, and analyzing financial data
• Preparing financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation
• Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Supporting financial processes that span UW–Madison and UW Health
• Contributing to process improvement and other Finance team projects
• Assisting with other financial and administrative activities based on departmental needs

This position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the financial operations of a large academic clinical department while working alongside experienced finance professionals. Responsibilities may evolve as the student gains experience and develops new skills.
