With eight design studios spread around the world, chances are you’ve seen our work before.
We work across architecture, landscape architecture, interior design and urban design - a rich multi-disciplinary mix of skills and perspectives that unlocks the economic, social and cultural value of projects.
We combine our creative design expertise with capabilities in strategy, research, technology and experience design, and we regularly collaborate with experts and partners from further afield.
Through our work, we're trying to build a more inclusive, sustainable future for communities - and create a more socially and ecologically resilient world.
We're looking for students currently studying Landscape Architecture to join our Brisbane team and gain valuable experience working alongside experienced landscape architects and designers on a diverse range of projects.
This paid internship is an opportunity to apply what you're learning at university in a professional design studio, while developing your design, technical and project delivery skills. You'll work closely with experienced team members, contributing to projects from early design through to documentation and delivery.
There is 12 month internship with the full time work during University holidays and part time options while you complete your degree, giving you the opportunity to continue building your skills and experience alongside your studies.
At Hassell, we're passionate about creating places that are thoughtful, sustainable and meaningful. We're looking for students who share that curiosity and are excited to learn, contribute and grow with us.
What you'll do
Working with the guidance of experienced landscape architects and designers, you'll have the opportunity to:
Support the design and development of landscape architecture projects across different stages.
Assist with landscape drawings, technical documentation and presentation materials.
Contribute to design concepts through sketching, physical models and digital design tools.
Research landscape materials, planting, site conditions, precedents and relevant design standards.
Help prepare design presentations, reports and other project materials.
Work collaboratively with landscape architects, urban designers, consultants and other project team members.
Participate in design reviews and contribute ideas and feedback.
Organise and manage your work to meet agreed project timeframes.
Learn from experienced professionals through collaboration, mentoring and hands-on project experience.
Take an active approach to developing your design and technical skills.
This internship will give you practical exposure to landscape architecture in a multidisciplinary design studio, while helping you build on your university studies and develop your professional experience.
Qualifications
We're looking for students who are curious, collaborative and passionate about landscape architecture and the built environment.
About you:
Currently studying towards a Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture at a recognised Australian university, ideally approaching the final year of your studies.
A strong interest in landscape design, public spaces and creating sustainable environments.
Good graphic, written and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
A willingness to seek feedback, learn from others and take ownership of your development.
Good organisational skills and the ability to manage your time and priorities.
Full working rights in Australia, which are required to be considered for this opportunity.
Available to work on-site at our Brisbane Studio.
It would be advantageous to have:
Familiarity with design and documentation software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino or similar digital design tools.
An interest in planting design, landscape materials, technical documentation and physical model making.
An interest in emerging design technologies, including AI tools.
