About the role

At National Grid, we're investing in the infrastructure that will power the energy transition for generations to come.

To help us deliver this ambition, we're looking for an experienced Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) Manager to lead and evolve our strategic approach to supplier engagement across Electricity Transmission and Strategic Infastructure.

This is a high-impact role where you'll build and strengthen relationships with our most critical suppliers, ensuring they are positioned to support the successful delivery of major programmes, projects and operational priorities.

You'll shape and deliver the Supplier Relationship Management strategy, driving collaboration, innovation, resilience and long-term value creation. Working across procurement, commercial, supply chain and operational teams, you'll provide a single strategic view of supplier performance, risks and opportunities, helping National Grid remain a customer of choice within the market.

The role is hybrid with our base office in Warwick.

What you'll do

As Supplier Relationship Management Manager, you will:

  • Develop and lead the ETSI Supplier Relationship Management strategy, aligned to business priorities and National Grid's wider supplier engagement programme.
  • Establish and maintain a scalable SRM framework, operating model and governance structure that supports effective supplier engagement.
  • Drive supplier segmentation and relationship planning to ensure the right level of engagement is applied to strategic supplier partners.
  • Act as the key interface between ETSI and National Grid's Group Supplier Engagement function, coordinating supplier priorities and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead the development and implementation of Partner Relationship Plans for priority suppliers.
  • Establish governance forums, supplier reviews, workshops and executive engagement programmes that drive accountability and performance.
  • Create a consolidated view of supplier performance across programmes, projects and categories, identifying trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Develop meaningful KPIs, dashboards and reporting that combine data-driven insights with relationship intelligence.
  • Lead strategic interventions and improvement plans where supplier performance falls below expectations.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency, resilience, sustainability and capacity improvement across the supply chain.
  • Champion Voice of the Supplier initiatives, ensuring feedback is translated into meaningful actions that enhance supplier experience and strengthen strategic partnerships.

What you'll need

We're looking for a commercially minded professional with a strong track record of building strategic supplier relationships and driving business value through effective supplier management.

You'll have:

  • Significant experience in Supplier Relationship Management, supplier performance management, procurement, category management or commercial leadership.
  • Strong understanding of SRM principles, including supplier segmentation, governance, performance management and relationship planning.
  • Experience designing and implementing strategic frameworks, operating models or transformation programmes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders internally and externally.
  • Strong analytical capability and experience using data and performance insights to drive decision making.
  • A sound understanding of commercial risk, contract management, procurement and supplier management practices.
  • Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills within complex, multi-stakeholder environments.

It would be great if you also had;

  • Experience within utilities, energy, infrastructure, construction or other asset-intensive industries.
  • Experience establishing or transforming an SRM capability or supplier performance function.
  • Knowledge of large-scale project or programme supply chains.
  • MCIPS qualification or equivalent commercial/procurement experience.

What you'll get

A competitive salary between £61,000 - £73,000 per annum – dependent on capability.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
