Show job description

Use surface science to solve real manufacturing problems. At Brighton Science, you’ll help aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, and medical device manufacturers make sure their surfaces are ready to bond, coat, paint, and seal. You’ll do it with technology that’s changing how quality is measured on the production floor.

Brighton Science provides a subscription-based network of measurement instruments and software, called BConnect, that lets manufacturers monitor and control surface quality in their processes. Our patented system measures water contact angle to add traceability to surfaces and predict whether a bond, coating, or seal will hold. Customers use BConnect in R&D, troubleshooting, and production quality programs to improve quality and reduce costs.

This role is a great fit for someone with a chemistry, materials, or engineering background who works in a lab, QA, or process role and wants to get out of the lab and work directly with customers. You’ll work closely with experienced members of the Customer Success team to become the day-to-day technical contact for a portfolio of BConnect customers. You’ll help them get their measurement programs running, troubleshoot instrument and data issues, and train their teams on the science behind the measurements.

Our company is focused on high growth and on building its reputation for technical leadership and innovation. The right candidate will find the environment exciting, challenging, and rewarding.

Mission:

This role will keep BConnect customers successful and engaged after they’re up and running. You’ll be the first point of contact when customers have technical questions, run into instrument or software issues, or need help applying surface measurement to their manufacturing processes. You’ll build strong relationships with customer engineers and quality teams, monitor account health, and make sure problems get solved quickly and opportunities get noticed. As you build product and application knowledge, you’ll take on more onboarding, training, and account strategy work.

This position reports to the Manager of Customer Success and offers clear opportunities for growth as the team and company grow. Internally, this role is part of our Customer Success team and carries the title Customer Success Manager.

What will I be doing?

  • Serving as the first point of contact for technical questions on lab instrumentation, software, and surface measurement, and resolving issues or escalating them to the right internal team
  • Training customer engineers, technicians, and quality teams on water contact angle, surface chemistry, and adhesion fundamentals, and on instrument and software capabilities, both in person and over video call
  • Helping customers apply surface measurement to their processes, including cleaning, surface treatment, bonding, coating, and quality control
  • Holding regular check-ins with assigned customers to make sure they’re using BConnect effectively and making progress toward their goals
  • Supporting new customer onboarding alongside the Customer Success team, with a path to leading onboarding independently
  • Monitoring customer measurement data and usage for changes and risk signals, and flagging accounts that need attention
  • Keeping customer records, activity, and account details accurate in HubSpot
  • Documenting customer feedback, technical issues, and bug reports and sharing them with product and engineering teams
  • Building deep familiarity with surface preparation and adhesion-related manufacturing processes, and becoming a go-to technical resource for customers
  • Supporting the renewal process for assigned customers and identifying opportunities to expand BConnect into new lines, sites, and applications

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, physics, or a related field. Candidates with other backgrounds and relevant hands-on experience will be considered
  • 1–2 years of experience in a lab, quality, process engineering, technical service, or applications role. Co-op and internship experience counts
  • Interest in industrial and manufacturing environments; experience with metrology, coatings, adhesives, or surface treatment is a plus
  • Comfort explaining technical concepts to engineers, technicians, and managers, both in writing and in person
  • A detail-oriented approach, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple customers at once
  • Curiosity about why things fail and a desire to grow into a customer-facing technical career
