Reporting to the Technology Learning and Adoption Team Manager, and supporting the Technology Learning and Adoption Team Leads, the successful candidate will design and deliver practical technology training and support the adoption of AI, Microsoft 365 and legal technology across the firm. This is a developing role suited to someone who communicates clearly, enjoys helping others and can turn technology into straightforward, role-relevant learning. The Trainer will work closely with colleagues across the firm, gather feedback and help users adopt new tools confidently, effectively and responsibly.

The role will primarily be based in our central Manchester office but will require occasional travel to our London and Liverpool offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and inclusive technology training across the firm, including induction, system rollouts, refresher learning and role-specific sessions.
  • Support the Technology Learning and Adoption Team Leads and Team Manager in delivering the firm’s technology learning and AI adoption plans.
  • Provide practical support for the adoption of AI tools, helping colleagues move from initial awareness to confident, effective and responsible use.
  • Work with legal teams and business services to understand learning needs, gather examples and help develop relevant AI and technology use cases.
  • Administer and maintain the LMS and manage training logistics and learner records.
  • Support both Lead roles with campaigns and projects.
  • Create and maintain high-quality learning materials, including guides, e-learning modules, videos, communications, prompt examples and practical exercises.
  • Co-ordinate learning schedules and communications.
  • Regular review and updating of existing training material.
  • Promote safe and responsible AI use in line with firm policies, confidentiality obligations, information security requirements and professional standards.
  • Support AI champions and subject matter contacts by sharing resources, gathering feedback and encouraging peer learning.
  • Assist with technology pilots and new releases by delivering learning, preparing communications, recording feedback and completing agreed follow-up actions.
  • Monitor attendance, assessments and feedback, maintain accurate records and highlight themes or barriers to the Team Leads and Team Manager.
  • Provide one-to-one and group support to help colleagues use Microsoft 365, AI and legal technology effectively.
  • Produce regular technology tips, demonstrations and engagement content that encourage continuous learning and effective use of available tools.
  • Keep up to date with developments in AI, Microsoft 365, learning methods and legal technology, sharing useful updates with the team.
  • Work collaboratively with other relevant teams within the IT Department, escalating questions or concerns when appropriate.
  • Maintain learning records and update the Learning Management System accurately and promptly.
  • Carry out other reasonable learning and adoption activities agreed with the Team Leads and Team Manager.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

To be successful in this role, candiates should be able to demonstrate:
  • Experience of delivering technology training, digital learning or user support, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and an interest in legal technology, preferably including systems such as Proclaim, iManage, Intapp, BundleDocs, Adobe Acrobat Pro and DocuSign.
  • An understanding of generative AI and Microsoft Copilot, including the importance of accuracy, confidentiality, information security and responsible use.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to support colleagues at different levels of technical ability.
  • Experience of delivering engaging learning to individuals and groups, in person and online, or the ability to develop these skills with support.
  • An understanding of learning methods and the ability to adapt content for different roles, needs and learning preferences.
  • Ability to create clear and accessible materials, including quick reference guides, e-learning, videos, communications, prompt examples and practical exercises.
  • Good organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to manage agreed priorities and meet deadlines.
  • A willingness to learn, respond constructively to feedback and keep knowledge up to date.
  • A collaborative, approachable and proactive manner, with sound judgement and attention to detail.
  • Experience of using or administering a Learning Management System would be helpful.
Qualifications/certifications (desirable but not required):
  • Microsoft 365, Microsoft Copilot or related technology certification.
  • A recognised training, learning or instructional design qualification.
  • Relevant AI, digital adoption or data literacy training.
