Role Overview

Have a strong foundation in tax returns but feel ready for something more? If you’re tired of the repetitive cycle of compliance work and want to spend more of your time directly helping clients save money through proactive tax planning, this is your opportunity.

At DiLucci CPA Firm, we’ve been serving business owners and real estate investors since 2005. We do tax differently by going beyond compliance, uncovering opportunities others miss, and helping clients keep more of what they earn.

As a Senior Tax Planner, you’ll work directly with business owners to identify tax-saving opportunities, develop personalized strategies, and make a tangible difference in their financial lives. You’ll own your client relationships, lead planning conversations, and deliver 10–15 customized tax plans per month, followed by ongoing quarterly planning.

This is an opportunity to put your tax expertise to work in a more strategic, relationship-driven role where clients genuinely appreciate the value you bring. You’ll have the autonomy to own your work, make professional judgments, and collaborate with firm leadership on complex planning matters.

You'll thrive here if you love solving problems, communicating with clients, and seeing the direct impact of your expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Planning & Advisory
  • Lead initial tax planning consultations and independently identify opportunities for tax savings.

  • Design and deliver 10–15 customized tax plans per month for business-owner clients.

  • Advise on entity structure, tax elections, compensation strategies, deductions, and long-term tax optimization.

  • Translate complex tax strategies, risks, and tradeoffs into clear, actionable recommendations.

Client Relationships & Ongoing Planning
  • Own an assigned portfolio of tax planning clients and serve as their primary planning advisor.

  • Conduct quarterly planning meetings to review results, identify new opportunities, and adapt strategies as businesses evolve.

  • Build trusted relationships through proactive communication, responsiveness, and exceptional service.

  • Help clients move from understanding their tax situation to taking action on their strategy.

Technical Execution & Quality
  • Review complex individual and business tax returns (1040, 1065, 1120S, and 1120) as needed to support planning recommendations.

  • Ensure tax plans are technically sound, compliant, and thoroughly documented.

  • Maintain high-quality workpapers and planning documentation in accordance with firm standards.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Partner with firm leadership on complex, high-risk, or non-routine planning matters.

  • Manage multiple client engagements and deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work.

  • Contribute ideas to improve tax planning processes, templates, and efficiency.

  • Take ownership of outcomes and communicate proactively when challenges arise.

Role Expectations

  • Independently deliver 10–15 high-quality tax plans per month.

  • Lead initial planning consultations confidently and without constant oversight.

  • Maintain strong client satisfaction and retention through consistent, proactive advisory work.

  • Deliver tax strategies that clients understand, appreciate, and can act on.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of public accounting experience with a strong foundation in tax preparation and planning.

  • Demonstrated experience leading tax planning engagements from discovery through delivery.

  • Experience advising business owners, ideally with $1M–$10M+ in gross receipts.

  • Strong technical knowledge of Forms 1040, 1065, 1120S, and 1120.

  • Knowledge of federal and state tax law, entity structuring, and tax elections.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical clients.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing a client portfolio independently.

  • Active CPA license required.
