The Role

We're seeking a detail-oriented Staff Tax Preparer. This role is designed for a developing public-accounting tax professional who can work from source documents, clear review points, and meet recurring tax deadlines.

You'll play a key role in preparing U.S. individual and business tax returns for review and helping maintain accurate, well-supported client files.

Location: Must be in The Philippines – Remote.

Environment: Philippines and International Teams.

Language: Advanced English (B2+ - C1).

Time zone: Monday to Friday – 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time.

Contract: Full Time

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or any related field.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of hands-on U.S. tax preparation experience in a CPA firm or comparable tax practice; experience preparing Forms 1040, 1065, 1120-S, or 1120 and related state returns preferred; experience with franchise or multi-location businesses a plus.
  • Skills: Ability to read individual and business tax source documents and prepare accurate supporting workpapers; working knowledge of U.S. federal tax return preparation, including small-business returns; good Excel skills; experience with professional tax software and QuickBooks Online or similar bookkeeping systems preferred; experience with Tax Dome, Drake, QuickBooks Online, Microsoft 365, and AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, and Juno).
  • Characteristics: Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple assignments and tax deadlines; clear written and verbal English communication; commitment to client confidentiality; resolves review comments promptly and maintains current knowledge of tax-preparation procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare federal and applicable state individual and business income tax returns using client records, tax workpapers, and firm software.
  • Review client-provided financial statements, tax returns, K-1s, and supporting schedules for completeness, requesting missing items through established channels.
  • Reconcile tax workpapers to client books, prepare supporting schedules, and identify items requiring adjustments or senior review.
  • Perform initial research on routine tax questions and document findings for the senior preparer or tax manager, escalating complex issues to senior staff.
  • Submit organized, review-ready files with clear supporting documentation, coordinating with bookkeepers and tax administrators to resolve reconciliation questions and missing documents.
