Technical Specialist

About the Role

As a Technical Specialist, you will provide trusted advice on complex commercial property claims, including events claims. You will support escalated referrals, sensitive claims, significant events and complaints involving internal and external dispute resolution. You will also coach claims professionals, deliver technical training and help strengthen claim quality across the team. Working with leaders and stakeholders, you will identify risks, improve processes and support sound commercial, regulatory and customer outcomes.

What You'll Do

• Provide specialist advice on complex commercial property claims, policies, legislation, processes and technical referrals
• Support decisions and approvals within delegated authority, escalating risks and sensitive matters when required
• Coach claims team members through side-by-side support, technical training, induction and knowledge sharing
• Provide technical input for fires, floods, major losses and other significant events
• Work with leaders to identify trends, capability gaps and opportunities to improve claim quality
• Build effective relationships with customers, brokers, service providers, legal teams and internal stakeholders
• Review and write knowledge articles

What You'll Bring

• At least five years’ experience managing complex commercial claims or working in a similar role
• Completed or current ANZIIF studies, or an equivalent qualification
• Strong commercial property claims knowledge, including policy interpretation, claim strategy and risk management
• Sound judgement and analytical skills, with experience making commercial decisions within delegated authority
• Clear communication, negotiation, coaching and stakeholder management skills
• Knowledge of multi-jurisdictional claims, strata, major loss or engineering claims would be valued
