Salary: £37,318 - £53,550

Leonardo UK operates a grade-based salary framework with broad bands. The salary range shown reflects the approved grade band for this role, or a narrower hiring range published within that band, and is benchmarked against the external market. Exceptions above the standard range are managed through governance controls to protect internal equity.

Your Impact:
Leonardo has a fantastic opportunity for a Test Development Engineer to join the Test Solutions team. We are seeking a talented and experienced Engineer, familiar with working on complex electronic (ideally RF, Digital and analogue based) Test Solutions. Our Systems Engineers work in multidisciplinary teams spanning a range of activities pulling together the necessary engineering and technology strands into a high-performance system, bridging the gap between the theoretically possible and the practically implementable.


What you will do:

  • The scope of work can range from design and technical problem solving to test solution development
  • Support the requirements capture for Test Equipment Requirement Specifications (TERS)
  • Control of Parts and Documentation including change management
  • Ensure effective implementation of the company's Life-cycle design reviews
  • Be part of a team that develops the hardware/software test solution including the requirements specification through to testing
  • Software development using LabVIEW & Test Stand
  • Support the management of Suppliers and project Make/Buy decisions as required
  • Identify technical risks and mitigation strategies e.g. with test solutions or obsolescence

What you’ll bring

  • Good understanding of a range of electronic technologies and a good understand of one of the Hardware/Systems/Software engineering lifecycles
  • Experience of working with external supplies
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrate team working skills

It would be nice if you had:

  • Good understanding of digital/analogue/RF systems with ESM and ECM
  • Test equipment exposure including operating/maintaining equipment
  • Experience of working in the defence electronics sector, ideally with airborne sensor systems
  • DOORS or equivalent requirements capture tool
  • LabVIEW and TestStand Experience, or equivalent software test automation tools

Travel within the UK and Europe may be required for this role.
