Job Description:

Field Network Engineer (Entry-Level)

Location: South East (London and surrounding areas)
Salary: Competitive salary, plus company car, fuel card, paid overtime, on-call allowance and expenses covered.

A full UK driving licence and residence within the advertised region are essential.

Start Your Career in IT Networking

Are you passionate about technology and looking to build a career within IT and networking?

At Comms-care, we're looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Technical Services team as a Field Network Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their IT career, or looking to move into networking and infrastructure support, with full training and support provided.

You don't need extensive industry experience. If you have a technical mindset, enjoy solving problems, and are keen to learn, we'll provide the training and development needed to help you succeed.

Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting customers both remotely and onsite, developing valuable skills across networking, hardware support, installations and customer service.

What You'll Be Doing

As part of our Technical Services team, you'll support customers by helping to install, maintain and troubleshoot a variety of IT and networking solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the installation and support of network equipment, PCs and servers.
  • Providing remote and onsite technical support to customers.
  • Preparing and configuring networking equipment before installation.
  • Supporting customer rollouts, upgrades, relocations and project-based installations.
  • Conducting site surveys and assisting with technical documentation.
  • Diagnosing and resolving hardware issues under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Visiting customer sites to replace or repair faulty equipment.
  • Delivering excellent customer service and building strong customer relationships.
  • Participating in an on-call rota (maximum 1 week in 3) once appropriately trained.

What We're Looking For

We're much more interested in your potential than your experience.

You may be:

  • A recent college or university graduate with an interest in IT or Networking.
  • Working in a Helpdesk, Retail Technology, Technical Support or Customer Service role and looking to progress.
  • A career changer with a strong interest in technology.

To be successful, you'll have:

  • A passion for technology and a desire to build a career in IT networking.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a logical approach to troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Confidence working independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Desirable (But Not Essential)

Any exposure to the following would be beneficial, but training will be provided:

  • Networking concepts such as routers, switches and Wi-Fi.
  • Cisco, Aruba, HP, DrayTek, Zyxel or Netgear technologies.
  • Windows PCs and hardware troubleshooting.
  • IT support, Helpdesk or customer-facing technical roles.
  • Relevant qualifications such as CompTIA, Cisco CCNA, BTEC, A-Level IT or equivalent.

What We Offer

  • Company car and fuel card.
  • Paid overtime and on-call allowance.
  • AXA Health Insurance and Dental Plan options for you and your family through salary sacrifice.
  • Increasing holiday allowance at Year 2 and Year 5.
  • Birthday day off.
  • Employee Referral Bonus.
  • Employee discounts and wellbeing benefits.
  • Modern office facilities with breakout areas, complimentary refreshments and a wellness room.
  • Structured training and mentoring programme.
  • Industry-recognised certifications and development opportunities.
  • Clear career progression pathway into Network Engineering and Technical Specialist roles.
