About Abound

We’re redefining consumer lending in the UK, and beyond. Using advanced AI and Open Banking data, we make fair, affordable personal finance available to more people. While traditional lenders rely almost entirely on credit scores, we look at the full financial picture - how much you spend, and what you can afford to repay to build a deeper, more accurate understanding of each customer's unique financial situation.

And we've shown it works at scale. We’ve issued over £1.3bn in loans directly to customers while delivering market-leading credit performance - for every 10 defaults the industry expects, we see only 3. We also reached profitability just 2.5 years after launch.

Backed by £2bn+ of funding from top-tier investors including Citi, GSR Ventures, and Deutsche Bank, we’re recognised as one of Europe’s fastest-growing fintechs (Sifted, CNBC). Now, we’re expanding into new markets and product lines - and we’re looking for ambitious people who want to learn fast, take ownership, and grow with us.

About the role:

As Training Coordinator, you'll support Abound's learning and development by planning, running and monitoring training across our operational teams. You'll work closely with the QA and Training Manager, operations and site managers, subject matter experts and external trainers. Together, you'll make sure training meets business goals and our regulatory obligations under the FCA's Consumer Duty, CONC, MCOB and SM&CR.

You'll keep things running day to day. That means scheduling sessions, keeping records accurate and audit-ready, and making sure every new starter moves smoothly from day one to full competence. Additionally you will support the teams in supporting colleagues who may required additional training and support to regain competency status.

What you'll be doing:

Planning and scheduling

  • Create and manage training schedules across Customer Service, Collections, Credit Operations and new business lines.

  • Organise classroom and virtual training sessions: book rooms, trainers, systems access and equipment, and send joining instructions.

  • Coordinate new starter induction, including shadowing and buddy pairings (the "I do, we do, you do" model) and sign-off milestones, including role play based tasks.

Training materials and resources

  • Develop or coordinate training materials, e-learning and job aids, working with subject matter experts.

  • Keep training content and Confluence operating procedures current, version-controlled and in step with policy and regulatory change.

Records, reporting and compliance

  • Track attendance and maintain accurate, audit-ready training and competency records for every colleague.

  • Make sure statutory and regulatory training is completed on time. This includes Consumer Duty, vulnerable customers, financial crime and AML, data protection (UK GDPR), complaints handling (DISP) and the SM&CR Conduct Rules.

  • Prepare regular management information on training completion, competency status and outcomes for the QA and Training Manager and senior leaders.

Needs analysis and evaluation

  • Assess training needs through consultation with managers, QA results, complaints data, performance data and job analysis.

  • Turn QA findings into targeted refresher training and coaching sessions.

  • Evaluate how effective training is (feedback, assessments, QA scores before and after) and recommend improvements.

Suppliers and budget

  • Liaise with external trainers and providers, raise purchase orders, manage invoices and track spend against the training budget.

Who you are:

  • Experience coordinating training, L&D or onboarding, ideally in a contact centre or financial services setting.

  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with confidence working with managers at all levels.

  • Able to juggle several priorities, with excellent attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.

  • Understanding of adult learning principles and e-learning techniques.

  • Confident with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint and spreadsheets for tracking and reporting.

Ideally you'll also have:

  • Experience in an FCA-regulated firm, and awareness of Consumer Duty, CONC, MCOB, SM&CR or T&C regimes.

  • Knowledge of instructional design and learning management systems (LMS).

  • Experience with Confluence or similar knowledge-management tools.

A training or L&D qualification (for example CIPD Level 3, or a Level 3 Award in Education and Training).

What we offer:

  • Everyone owns a piece of the company - equity

  • Hybrid with 3 days a week in the office

  • 25 days’ holiday a year, plus 8 bank holidays

  • 2 paid volunteering days per year

  • One month paid sabbatical after 4 years

  • Employee loan

  • Free gym membership

  • Team wellness budget to be active together - set up a yoga class, a tennis lesson or go bouldering
