Job Summary

The Transportation Consultant oversees the day-to-day operational stability and process standardization of transportation operations for an assigned portfolio of facilities across Cardinal Health's distribution network. Serving as the primary operational Single Point of Contact (POC) for their territory, this role partners with Transportation Planners, distribution center leadership, and third-party logistics (3PL) carriers to maintain delivery performance, enforce process compliance, and oversee key workflows like the After-Sale Order (ASO) process.

The successful candidate will leverage operational data, Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to track regional KPIs, troubleshoot delivery bottlenecks, and coordinate real-time solutions for supply chain disruptions such as weather events, system outages, and peak holiday volume shifts.

Responsibilities

· Operational Point of Contact & Issue Resolution: Serve as the primary operational Single Point of Contact (POC) for FDC transportation operations within an assigned portfolio of 1 to 5 facilities; promptly troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day transportation and delivery challenges to protect service levels and maintain network continuity.

· Carrier & Fleet Partner Collaboration: Foster an active, collaborative partnership with dedicated carrier operations management and 3PL partners to manage service delivery expectations, resolve localized exceptions, and verify carrier execution.

· Transportation Planner Alignment: Partner closely with Transportation Planners to reinforce standard operating procedures, align on route planning expectations, and ensure daily operational compliance across assigned facilities.

· Process Standardization & Governance: Drive and verify operational adherence to established protocols across assigned sites; oversee key logistics governance workflows, including standard operating procedure (SOP) maintenance and the ASO (After-Sale Order) process.

· Business Disruption Management: Proactively anticipate, coordinate, and execute contingency plans for network-impacting events, including severe weather, peak holiday volume shifts, and transportation system outages affecting assigned facilities.

· Operational Data Analytics & Dashboard Utilization: Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and business intelligence tools (such as Tableau and Power BI) to monitor facility-specific operational health, track service KPIs, evaluate recurring failure modes, and provide data-backed operational feedback to regional leadership.

· Continuous Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for operational streamlining and waste elimination within the assigned territory, partnering with engineering and leadership to implement standardized best practices and sustained corrective actions.

· Cross-Functional Stakeholder Communication: Liaise between distribution center operations, customer service, planning, and external transportation providers to ensure transparent, consistent communication on delivery execution.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred

· Preferred Certifications: PMP, Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt

· 4+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain management, with a focus on dedicated fleet operations, dispatch management, or carrier operations preferred

· Demonstrated experience managing operational processes, day-to-day transportation execution, and 3PL/carrier performance for regional or multi-facility networks

· Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret operational data, review scorecards, and derive actionable insights from transportation trends

· Familiarity or proficiency with data visualization and reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Transportation Management Systems (TMS) preferred

· Proven ability to coordinate and lead during time-sensitive operational disruptions, including weather contingencies and holiday operational planning

· Excellent communication, conflict-resolution, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional peers and external partners
