🚀 WE’RE HIRING — QA ENGINEER (FULLY REMOTE | CONTRACT)
Podline Technology Limited is looking for a highly detail-oriented, analytical, and quality-driven QA Engineer to join our engineering team on a fully remote contract basis.
We are looking for someone who understands that quality assurance goes beyond simply finding bugs. You will play an important role throughout the product development lifecycle — from reviewing requirements and identifying potential risks to testing new features, validating fixes, supporting releases, and continuously improving the quality of our products.
If you enjoy breaking things, investigating why they break, and working with developers and product teams to make sure they are fixed properly, this role may be for you.
💼 ROLE
Position: QA Engineer
Employment Type: Contract
Work Arrangement: Fully Remote
Company: Podline Technology Limited
🔍 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Test Planning & Strategy
- Develop comprehensive test plans, test strategies, test cases, and test scenarios based on product requirements.
- Understand business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, technical specifications, and product workflows.
- Identify potential risks, edge cases, dependencies, and areas requiring additional testing.
- Determine appropriate testing approaches for new features, enhancements, integrations, and releases.
- Ensure adequate test coverage across critical product functionalities.
2. Functional & Manual Testing
- Perform functional testing of web and mobile applications.
- Verify that new features work according to approved requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Conduct positive and negative testing to validate expected and unexpected user behaviours.
- Perform exploratory testing to identify issues that may not be covered by predefined test cases.
- Test complex user journeys and end-to-end business workflows.
- Validate forms, validations, calculations, permissions, notifications, error messages, and system responses.
- Test different user roles, account types, permissions, and access levels.
3. Regression & Retesting
- Perform regression testing after new features, fixes, updates, and deployments.
- Retest reported issues to confirm that defects have been properly resolved.
- Ensure that fixes do not introduce new issues into existing functionality.
- Maintain and continuously improve regression test suites.
4. API & Backend Testing
- Test REST APIs and backend services using tools such as Postman or equivalent platforms.
- Validate API requests, responses, status codes, headers, authentication, authorization, payloads, and error handling.
- Test different request parameters, data types, invalid inputs, and edge cases.
- Verify that backend responses correctly support frontend functionality.
- Perform integration testing between internal and external services.
- Investigate API failures and collaborate with developers to identify potential causes.
5. Web & Mobile Application Testing
- Test applications across different browsers, operating systems, screen sizes, and devices where applicable.
- Verify responsive behaviour and consistency across supported environments.
- Test mobile applications across relevant Android/iOS devices or emulators where applicable.
- Identify browser-, device-, or platform-specific issues.
- Validate application behaviour under different network conditions and connectivity scenarios.
6. Bug Identification & Management
- Identify, reproduce, document, and track software defects.
- Create clear and detailed bug reports containing:
- Issue description
- Steps to reproduce
- Expected result
- Actual result
- Severity and priority
- Screenshots, videos, logs, or other supporting evidence
- Relevant environment/device/browser information
- Work with developers to clarify reported issues and provide additional information when required.
- Track defects through their entire lifecycle until resolution and verification.
- Distinguish between genuine defects, expected behaviour, configuration issues, and product improvements.
7. Release & Deployment Testing
- Participate in pre-release testing and release validation.
- Perform smoke and sanity testing after deployments.
- Verify critical application functionality before and after production releases.
- Conduct post-deployment checks where required.
- Support developers and product teams during release activities.
- Provide QA feedback and communicate identified release risks clearly.
8. Requirements & Product Review
- Participate in product planning, sprint planning, refinement, and review sessions.
- Review requirements and designs from a quality perspective before development begins.
- Identify ambiguities, missing requirements, conflicting behaviours, and potential usability issues.
- Ask relevant questions early enough to prevent defects from reaching development or production.
- Work closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to ensure requirements are testable and measurable.
9. Test Documentation
- Create and maintain test cases, test scenarios, checklists, test plans, and regression suites.
- Maintain accurate records of testing activities and results.
- Document defects, test evidence, and release validation results.
- Ensure QA documentation remains current as products and requirements evolve.
10. Quality Process Improvement
- Help establish and improve QA processes, standards, and best practices within the engineering team.
- Identify recurring defects and recommend preventive measures.
- Analyse defect patterns and testing gaps.
- Contribute ideas that improve development quality and reduce production issues.

- Test authentication, authorization, session management, and access-control scenarios from a QA perspective.
- Identify potential security-related defects and escalate them appropriately.
- Validate application behaviour under high-volume or unusual input conditions where required.
13. Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with Software Engineers, Product Managers, Product Designers, and other stakeholders.
- Communicate defects and quality risks clearly and professionally.
- Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies where applicable.
- Provide timely QA updates and testing reports.
- Collaborate with developers during debugging and issue resolution.
- Contribute to a culture of shared ownership for product quality.
