Position Summary: ultra innovative – Tackle rare and dynamic challenges The Ultra Care Liaison (UCL) is a field-based function on the Ultragenyx DACH team , combining responsibilities at the intersection of scientific engagement and non-promotional market access across the portfolio. The key objective of this role is to improve patient care in the assigned geographic territory by providing stakeholder-specific information, education and support, as needed and requested. The UCL will act as the primary point of contact for selected HCPs. This role requires the ability to identify and interact with selected HCPs in person and remotely, a patient-centric attitude, a strong scientific background , strategic communication skills , and the ability to establish, nurture and maintain relationships across health care ecosystems at various levels. Work Model: Field: Officially documented as working as a member of the Ultragenyx field team, generally interacting with third parties on behalf of Ultragenyx. Responsibilities: Proactively engage in disease awareness, disease state and patient referral education, including patient transition from pediatric to adult care, with physicians, other relevant HCPs, pharmacists, nurses and dietitians in therapeutic areas of interest for Ultragenyx. Reactively educate physicians and other relevant HCPs, pharmacists, nurses, dietitians and payers about the latest scientific evidence on EU Commission-approved and non-EU Commission-approved Ultragenyx medications. Reactively educate and engage in scientific exchange with physicians, other relevant HCPs and payers about the latest scientific evidence on the diagnosis of the therapeutic areas of focus. Organize and execute local educational events and roundtables to foster compliant dissemination of disease awareness, disease state education and product-related medical and scientific evidence developed and/or validated by Medical Affairs, and to support networking in the scientific community in the assigned territory. Facilitate peer-to-peer exchange between HCPs within the assigned territory on the current evidence in therapeutic areas of focus. Respond to product-related inquiries from HCPs and pharmacists within the scope of the approved label or scientific evidence, if no label is available, as well as inquiries on disease awareness, market access and supply chain topics. Assess the ability of hospitals to administer gene therapies, accept referrals and fulfill criteria determined by G-BA. Facilitate access of prioritized centers to qualification initiatives. Co-create account plans for major hospitals and centres of care, coordinate tactics with Medical Affairs, and provide regular updates to plans at least quarterly. Review account plans in cross-functional team meetings. Requirements: Physician, pharmacist, registered nurse or scientist with a university education in a relevant scientific field. Fluent written and spoken German and English are mandatory. Minimum of seven years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including at least five years in field-based functions. Experience in orphan drugs or highly specialized areas in secondary care is imperative; knowledge of at least three different medical specialties and at least three years of experience in KOL interactions is desirable. Launch experience required , including development of local infrastructure for patient referral and care. In-depth understanding of the German health care system and the interactions and interdependencies of sick funds, KVs, MDK, IQWiG , GKV-SV and G-BA with HCPs. Thorough knowledge of local relevant laws, particularly regarding compliant interactions with HCPs and other relevant stakeholders, as well as the pharmaceutical industry’s code of conduct and commonly accepted behavioural practices. Impeccable business integrity record. Understanding of GCP and GDP standards. High level of energy, ambition and intellectual curiosity, with the ability to rapidly digest and interpret new information . Excellent communication skills in personal and remote interactions, including phone and online formats. Discipline and self-motivation, with the ability to work autonomously and deliver against defined timelines.
