About QBE

At QBE, we get to the heart of what matters for our customers. And we do it all with a human touch.

We’re an international insurer with more than 13,000 people working across 26 countries - which means we’re big enough for your ambitions, yet small enough for you to make a real impact. It’s an exciting time. We’re building momentum towards our vision to become the most consistent and innovative risk partner.

What if you could have a positive impact - at work and in the world? As part of the QBE team, you’ll get to spend every day working with people who are passionate, talented and kind.

Your new role:

You’ll underwrite aviation risks within defined authority, organisational policy and underwriting strategy, supporting profitable growth through new business and renewals. You’ll also provide product expertise and build relationships across intermediaries, direct clients and the aviation industry.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Underwrite aviation risks in accordance with defined limits of authority, organisational policy and underwriting strategy.
  • Provide support to the Regional Manager and Senior Underwriters.
  • Achieve underwriting results and profitable growth through new business and renewals in accordance with plan and budget.
  • Provide expertise on opportunities for growth and specialist aviation product matters.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with intermediaries, direct clients and aviation industry bodies.
  • Represent QBE at client presentations and aviation industry functions.
  • Maintain knowledge of aviation risk factors, legislation and regulations, and strong relationships across underwriting, claims and administration teams.

About You

You bring an Aviation Insurance background or solid working knowledge of the aviation industry, together with strong relationship management and communication skills. You are comfortable working collaboratively and applying market knowledge to support sound underwriting outcomes.

You'll also have:

  • Experience within insurance, relationship management or a similar field.
  • General aviation market knowledge.
  • Reporting and analytical capability, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Presentation and facilitation skills, including Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills and a team-focused approach.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or industry experience.

Benefits

We offer a range of benefits to help provide holistic support for your work life, whatever your circumstances. As a QBE employee you will have access to and benefit from:

  • Hybrid working - a mix of working from home and in the office to support work/life balance
  • Free holistic wellbeing coaching, nutritional support, confidential counselling, financial and legal advice
