As a US Senior Accountant, you will manage project-level accounting, specialized job costing, and core financial operations for a commercial roofing contractor generating approximately $5M in annual revenue. This is a high-visibility, specialized accounting role-not a basic bookkeeping position. Operating remotely during U.S. business hours, you will maintain rigorous job-cost structures within Sage 50, execute complex construction payrolls (including prevailing-wage and certified payrolls), track retainages, and assist with work-in-progress (WIP) reporting to ensure total project profitability.

Your Impact

• Construction Accounting & Job Costing: Maintain accurate job costing structures in Sage 50, allocating labor, materials, subcontractor, and equipment costs to specific jobs, phases, and cost codes. Assist with budget-to-actual reporting, change order tracking, retainage, and WIP / percentage-of-completion schedules.

• Accounts Payable & Subcontractor Care: Monitor the AP inbox, code and match invoices to purchase orders, investigate mis allocations, maintain W-9 records, execute scheduled payment runs, and support annual Form 1099 processing.

• Accounts Receivable & Progress Billings: Issue customer invoices, record incoming payments, track retainage receivable, monitor AR aging, and support AIA/progress billing documentation.

• Payroll & Prevailing-Wage Compliance: Allocate field and office labor costs to appropriate jobs, maintain payroll records, and prepare certified payroll reporting in compliance with U.S. prevailing-wage (Davis-Bacon) standards.

• Month-End Close & Reporting: Reconcile bank, credit card, AP/AR subledgers, and payroll accounts. Post journal entries, maintain balance sheet supporting schedules, and compile management financial reports.

• Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate directly with U.S. project managers, clients, and vendors to resolve missing job-cost details and escalate discrepancies promptly.

What You Bring

• The Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of total accounting experience, with at least 2 years of hands-on construction accounting and job-costing experience (specifically supporting commercial, roofing, or specialty contractors).

• The Credentials: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Technical Mastery: Strong experience using Sage 50 and advanced MS Excel. Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP, WIP schedules, AIA/progress billings, retainage accounting, and certified/prevailing-wage payroll.

• Specialized Toolkit: Exposure to construction tech platforms like Sage 100/300 Contractor, Sage Intacct Construction, Foundation, Viewpoint, ComputerEase, or QuickBooks Job Costing is a strong advantage.

• The Mindset: Analytical and detail-driven, capable of taking full ownership of project-level ledgers while identifying miscoded items to safeguard job margins.

• Communication Prowess: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, essential for direct, professional engagement with U.S. project leaders, vendors, and clients.
