US Tax Lead

About The Role As Volta's US Tax Lead, you'll own US tax compliance, planning, and strategy, ensuring the business meets its federal, state, and local tax obligations while identifying opportunities to optimize our tax position as we grow. You'll work closely with Finance, Legal, and external advisors, acting as the go-to expert on all things US tax. This role suits an experienced tax professional who wants ownership of a critical function and the opportunity to build scalable tax processes at a fast-growing, global company. What You Will Be Doing Lead US federal, state, and local tax compliance, including timely and accurate filing of all required returns Develop and implement US tax strategies that support business growth while managing risk and optimizing the company's tax position Partner with Finance to ensure accurate tax accounting, provisioning, and reporting in line with US GAAP requirements Manage relationships with external tax advisors and auditors, coordinating tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities Monitor changes in US tax legislation and assess their impact on Volta's operations, updating processes as needed Advise internal stakeholders on the tax implications of new products, business models, or corporate transactions Oversee transfer pricing matters and intercompany transactions relevant to the US entity Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities across tax compliance and reporting Support the wider Finance team on tax-related aspects of financial planning, M&A, and corporate structuring What You Bring 7+ years of experience in US tax, including experience in-house at a multi-entity company or at a Big 4 or national accounting firm Strong technical knowledge of US federal and state tax law, including corporate income tax, and experience with tax provisioning CPA or relevant professional qualification preferred Experience managing tax audits and relationships with tax authorities and external advisors Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, comfortable working with complex tax and financial data Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical tax matters into clear guidance for non-tax stakeholders Experience working in a fast-growing, multi-entity, or international business is a plus High attention to detail and strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
