About Belltower Fund Group:

Belltower, AngelList’s funds services division, is empowering world-changing fund investments.

Belltower was formed in 2019 as AngelList’s native fund administrator. Belltower provides fund administration services to the venture space. Our coverage spans syndicates, venture funds, and first-of-their-kind rolling funds. Our full-service fund management offering streamlines the complexity of running a fund by integrating financial reporting, tax, compliance, portfolio management, and other services that managers typically have to cobble together from multiple vendors. Our services, combined with AngelList’s software, enable us to launch and scale a fund efficiently, allowing fund managers to focus on what they do best: investing.

Since 2019, Belltower has supported 27k+ funds representing over $25B in assets under administration, leveraging AngelList’s fund admin software to power the service layer for funds launched on the AngelList platform.

About the Role

We are seeking a Tax Lead – Full Service (Self-Advised) to join our growing tax team. This role is ideal for someone with partnership tax review experience who enjoys owning client relationships and driving work to a deadline.

The Tax Lead (Self-Advised) will own tax delivery for Belltower's self-advised venture funds, where the fund's GP manages and signs for the fund and Belltower provides the tax service layer. You will own the relationship between Tax and these GPs: what we need from them, when we need it, and how their returns and K-1s get reviewed and released. You'll proactively manage missing information, client dependencies, and escalations to keep deliverables on track. Working closely with our Customer Relations Team, Legal, Engineering, and Fund Accounting, you'll make this process repeatable as the population grows.

This is a senior individual contributor role. You will review complex partnership returns, coach Associates and Senior Associates, and use technology to replace manual follow-up with scalable workflows.

You Will:

  • Own end-to-end tax delivery for a growing book of self-advised funds, from information collection through GP review and K-1 release

  • Review partnership returns and Schedules K-1, including allocations, state filings, and foreign reporting

  • Run GP outreach for return signers, partnership representatives, FBAR, and other filing inputs, with clear deadlines and escalation

  • Build and maintain the self-advised playbook, and hand recurring operational work to Tax Operations

  • Coach Associates and Senior Associates through review notes, training, and workflow management

  • Find where AI and automation can replace manual follow-up, and work with Engineering to ship it

  • You Have:

  • 5+ years of partnership tax experience in public accounting, fund administration, or industry, ideally with venture capital or private equity funds

  • Experience reviewing Forms 1065 and Schedules K-1 and interpreting partnership agreements

  • A record of managing client or GP relationships where you had to drive outside parties to a deadline

  • Working knowledge of multi-state filings and foreign partner reporting (Forms 1042 and 8804/8805)

  • Clear written communication, especially when the message is a firm ask

  • An instinct to question existing processes and use AI and automation to build better ones

  • CPA, EA, or attorney admitted in a U.S. jurisdiction, or progress toward one

  • Working Here

If you don’t meet every requirement above, we still encourage you to apply. We value complementary strengths and operators who learn by doing.

We operate out of hubs in New York City and San Francisco. For most roles on those teams, we work from the office at least two days per week (Tuesdays and either Wednesday or Thursday).

Compensation: The compensation for this role consists of a competitive base salary, benefits, and equity package. The base salary for this role starts at $155,000+ annually but will vary based on a number of factors including a candidate’s professional background, experience, level, and location. Additional details about our Total Rewards package will be provided during the recruitment process.

Benefits: We support your life both in and outside of work.
