About the Company

Second Front Systems (2F) is a public-benefit software company focused on enabling secure software development and deployment across government and regulated networks. Built by national security veterans, the company develops solutions that help organizations reduce deployment timelines and deliver trusted capabilities. Its work supports U.S. national security and its allies.

About the Role

Second Front Systems is seeking a resourceful, detail-oriented UX Designer to strengthen its product organization and customer-facing capabilities. This role focuses on designing interfaces and workflows for defense operations, translating complex mission, compliance, and technical requirements into intuitive product experiences.

You will work closely with product leaders, engineers, product managers, and end-user communities to shape the user experience of deployment, configuration, and accreditation workflows. The position also involves user research, rapid prototyping, and collaboration with AI-assisted engineering teams to deliver reliable and accessible product experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive prompt-to-prototype workflows using Claude Design and Claude Code to translate user needs and technical requirements into functional prototypes and high-fidelity interfaces.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams through rapid feedback cycles to build, test, and refine interactive prototypes and production features using AI tools.
  • Own the end-to-end user experience for deployment, configuration, and accreditation workflows within the customer application.
  • Translate complex compliance and technical requirements into intuitive, accessible user journeys in collaboration with product managers and domain experts.
  • Conduct user research with commercial software providers through interviews, usability testing, and surveys to identify pain points and validate design directions.
  • Maintain and scale the design system to support visual quality, accessibility, and consistent interactions.
  • Promote user-centered design throughout the product lifecycle while balancing user needs, technical feasibility, and delivery speed.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional experience as a Product Designer, UX Designer, or UI Designer working on complex web applications or SaaS products.
  • Proficiency with Claude Design, Claude Code, and Figma for prompt-to-prototype workflows and design systems.
  • Experience working synchronously with AI-assisted engineering teams in fast-paced, collaborative Agile environments.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating design processes, problem-solving, and examples of simplifying complex technical workflows into user-friendly applications.
  • Experience conducting user research and translating feedback into actionable design improvements.
  • Solid understanding of information architecture, interaction design, visual hierarchy, and user-centered design principles.
  • Familiarity with government compliance frameworks such as ATO, FedRAMP, or NIST 800-53 and accreditation workflows.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to government contract requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • The source does not specify additional preferred qualifications.

  • Base salary range: $120,000–$145,000. Final compensation will depend on professional background, technical proficiency, seniority, and regional cost factors.
  • Potential eligibility for equity awards and discretionary bonuses.
  • 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their dependents.
  • 401(k) plan with a 3% company contribution.
  • Wellness benefits, including a One Medical membership, mental health resources, and family planning support.
