About Us

Lexa is an AI-powered legal research platform. It helps lawyers and legal professionals find relevant legislation and case law faster and more reliably. We are a small, growing team of lawyers, engineers and business people, building in Hungary and expanding into international markets.

The Role

We are looking for a part-time, contract-based UX Researcher to give our product roadmap an evidence base. You will combine qualitative interviews with quantitative analysis of user behavior, and turn both into structured, prioritized insights that leadership can act on directly.

You will work closely with leadership, and with our legal experts, sales and customer support members.

What you'll do

  • Plan and run qualitative user interviews with lawyers and legal professionals, including recruiting, discussion guides and synthesis
  • Give practical input to our data collection strategy - both user interviews and what data points to measure
  • Analyze product usage and behavioral data (funnels, retention, feature adoption, search behavior) to find patterns and pain points
  • Combine qualitative and quantitative findings into structured, quantified input documents for roadmap prioritization
  • Design and run research across multiple countries and legal markets, accounting for local differences in legal practice and user needs
  • Support survey design and the statistical evaluation of A/B tests and experiments
  • Define and track research-based metrics (e.g. satisfaction, task success, time-to-answer)
  • Document research plans, methods and findings in a reusable repository
  • Present results and recommendations regularly to leadership
  • Follow GDPR-compliant research practices (consent, anonymization, data handling)

What we're looking for

  • Ownership mindset: you work independently and manage your own schedule and deliverables. We expect practical insights and recommendations, not just raw data or analyses
  • Proven experience as a UX Researcher, with strong qualitative and quantitative skills
  • Strong statistics background (e.g. significance testing, regression, sampling, survey and experiment design)
  • Experience running UX research in multiple countries
  • Hands-on experience analyzing behavioral data (e.g. SQL, SPSS, Python/R, or product analytics tools)
  • Professional working proficiency in English and Hungarian
  • Clear communication with technical and business stakeholders

Nice to have

  • Experience with B2B SaaS products
  • Experience researching LLM-based or other AI products
  • Background in legal, legaltech or another regulated industry
  • Experience recruiting and interviewing busy professionals (e.g. lawyers)

Engagement details

  • Type: Contract (freelance / service agreement)
  • Time commitment: Part-time, approx. 20-30 hours/week
  • Duration: Long term
  • Location: Hybrid (1 or 2 days of office / week depending on the arrangement)

What we offer

  • Real influence: your findings feed directly into the product roadmap
  • Flexible, self-managed working hours
  • Short decision paths at a fast-growing AI startup
  • Interesting research context: AI, law and international expansion
