UXO Technician II

Job Title: UXO Technician 2 Location: Remote with travel to project sites Description/Job Summary Responsibilities/Duties WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING The person hired for this role will be responsible for: Properly store explosive materials; Determine precise location in field environments using global positioning equipment, or basic land navigation; Perform field collection procedures to identify contaminated soils; Prepare on-site holding area to temporarily stow MEC determined to be acceptable to move; Perform limited technical supervision of UXOSP; Conduct UXO surface/subsurface clearances and provide UXO avoidance/escort as required. Extensive travel and long-term on-site work is required. To perform the duties of this position a person will need to be in good physical health and be able to lift 50 pounds in order to perform field tasks. Personnel in this position must be able to walk safely over rugged terrain and tolerate weather extremes. Minimum Requirements WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL The ideal candidate will need the following as a foundation for success in this role: Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent. Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications for UXO Technician Level 2 as outlined in Department of Defense Explosive Safety Board (DDESB) Technical Paper 18 (TP 18) Minimum Qualifications for Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Technicians and Personnel, which includes the following: Graduate of a military Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) school of the United States (U.S.), Canada, Great Britain, Germany or Australia OR Graduate of a formal training course of instruction or EOD Assistant Course. Prior military EOD experience or three (3) years of experience in munitions response actions or range clearance activities, as appropriate for the contracted operation, plus specific project/explosives safety training. Must be able to perform all functions enumerated for UXO Technician I. Must be able to communicate effectively with clients, regulators, project team members, and company management. Desired Qualifications WHAT YOU NEED TO STAND OUT – Preferred, not required Computer knowledge with MS Windows MS Excel MS Project and PowerPoint a plus BA of BS degree Physical & Environmental Requirements PHYSICAL & COGNITIVE REQUIRMENTS Ability to lift/move/relocate items up to 50 lbs Prolonged standing up to 90% of the time Walking long distances Walking over uneven or mountainous terrain Lifting, walking, driving, and working in harsh (hot/cold/windy/vegetated) environments Repetitive hand motions (typing, tool use, etc.) Ability to see details at close range Ability to see details at a distance Viewing computer screen for extended periods Ability to interpret and analyze visual data (maps, graphs, warning indicators, etc.) Operating heavy machinery or tools (would only include for a role for heavy equipment operator) Driving a company or personal vehicle Climbing ladders or stairs Reading and interpreting documents or regulations WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.) Must be able to travel up to 100% May work in environments with loud noises, dust, or hazardous materials Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) Remote work environment Potential for longer days up to 12 hours in duration. Details Work Schedule: HGL office work is dictated by a 5-day work week; however, fieldwork schedules will deviate based on job requirements and may require longer hours and weekends. All positions are subject to a pre-hire education and driving record verification. This is a Service Contract Act (SCA) position. As an SCA-covered role, benefits and paid time off differ.
