Position Summary Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) is on a mission to create the future of public media. We believe that future will be co-created with audiences, communities, and organizations, and we seek an entrepreneurial leader to help grow our membership program from industry standout to civic institution. The Vice President of Membership will lead our most impactful revenue line and design and execute a strategy for membership growth. Expected Compensation Range: $225,000 to $240,000 per year. The exact salary rate is determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure, and internal equity. Position Responsibilities Program Leadership : The MPR membership program is widely recognized as one of the strongest in public media, boasting more than 170,000 members – including nearly 100,000 sustaining members -- and a history of leadership and innovation. We have a regional audience of nearly one million per week and a national audience of more than ten million. Team Leadership : The vibes are immaculate on a motivated and gifted team eager for a permanent leader. They operate with skill and professionalism and are well-networked and well-respected across the company. Organization Leadership : Membership is the core of what we do. Membership is how we measure impact. The entire organization, including the executive team, the CEO, and the board of trustees is focused on our goal of growing membership to 300,000. The board of trustees has dedicated capital to fund revenue-generating innovative ideas. Mission Leadership : MPR chronicles local news with national impact and powers music discovery and enjoyment for millions. We create content that delights audiences and non-content programs that connect communities. Now more than ever, we need a genuine relationship with our audiences. The VP of Membership is among the most important roles in the organization. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities We seek a transformational executive to help build a movement around public media. Key skills, experiences, and mindsets required for this role include: Entrepreneurship : A record of identifying, evaluating, launching, and iterating new paths to growth. A record of success in achieving growth targets. Partnership : Experience building through unaffiliated organizations and identifying novel pathways for collaboration and mutual gain. Channel Agility : Facility and creativity across multiple business channels; expertise in digital conversion. Capacity to develop new channels and manage more mature ones. Alignment : A conviction in the power of public media to advance a connected America fueled by trust and understanding. Preferred Education and Experience Experience operating within complex, mission-driven, or public-facing organizations; media, broadcasting, or journalism experience is a plus. Experience in growing and operating digital membership, subscription, or direct-to-consumer marketing models. Experience building executive-level relationships and develop partnerships at leading organizations across Minnesota. Familiarity with CRM and membership or donor database platforms. Advanced degree in business, marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. 10+ years of progressive leadership in membership, fundraising, subscription, or other direct-to-consumer revenue-generating disciplines, including experience at a senior/executive level. Reporting to this Position Director of Membership (2) and Membership Business Partner. The role overseas a team of 9 in total.
