Position Title: Vice President, VBC Impact & Strategy Reports To: Chief Strategy Officer Department: Strategy & Growth Classification: Exempt Places of Work: Remote People Leader: No About the Organization: Equality Health is an integrated, holistic, and tech-enabled healthcare delivery system focused on improving the health and wellness of diverse populations. Founded in 2015, Equality Health aims to improve access to value-based care for people who have long struggled with navigating the traditional one-size-fits-all U.S. healthcare system. The mission of the company is to provide high-quality care that improves and enhances lives regardless of race, ethnicity, age, or income. Through its supplemental care management services and proprietary technology platform, CareEmpower™, Equality Health helps managed care plans and health systems improve outcomes and lower costs for diverse populations while simultaneously facilitating the transition to risk-based accountability. Equality Health supports over 800,000 members and more than 4,000 practice sites and continues to scale rapidly. In 2021, Equality Health partnered with General Atlantic, a leading global growth equity firm, to help drive continued expansion and fuel the next phase of growth as a leading value-based primary care network serving the Medicaid, Medicare and ACA Exchange populations. This strategic investment will enable Equality Health to pursue further geographic expansion, technological innovation and product development while furthering its mission of increasing access to care, lowering costs and improving outcomes for underserved individuals, families and communities. About the Role: The Vice President of Value-Based Care Impact & Strategy will lead the organization’s efforts to comprehensively assess the impact of its value-based care model across clinical, financial, operational, and patient-level outcomes; demonstrate Equality Health’s value to external stakeholders (i.e., tailored to specific payer partners, provider network, state agencies), and shape Equality Health’s future value-based care offerings. The VP will build the enterprise capability for on-going comprehensive VBC impact assessment, partnering closely with Medical Economics, Actuarial, Clinical, Operations, and Growth teams to define frameworks and metrics to assess impact across Equality Health’s stakeholders and to establish processes and governance for on-going evaluation. The VP will translate findings into clear, credible narratives for external stakeholders and use these insights to shape payer and provider strategy, strengthen partner engagement and retention, support growth, and drive opportunities to enhance Equality Health’s programs and overall value proposition. The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in value-based care and healthcare economics with exceptional strategic thinking, synthesis, and executive communication skills. They are comfortable interpreting complex healthcare performance data, developing compelling value narratives for different audiences, engaging senior payer and provider leaders, and orchestrating cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities Value Impact Framework and Insight Development Develop the framework to assess the impact of Equality Health’s value-based care model for payer partners, providers, and states. Define the clinical, financial, operational, quality, utilization, patient experience, and health equity measures that collectively demonstrate the value of Equality Health’s model. Provide strategic direction to define the analytical questions and evidence to substantiate Equality Health’s value proposition, partnering with Medical Economics, Actuarial, and other analytical teams to develop the supporting analyses. Synthesize findings across multiple analytic domains into an integrated view of performance Identify the most significant drivers of cost, utilization, quality, clinical outcomes, and translate those insights into opportunities to strengthen Equality Health’s impact. Use evidence of impact to inform enterprise strategy, VBC model design, investment priorities, product and program development, and care-model design. Value Story & External Communication Lead the development of differentiated, evidence-based value stories for payer partners, providers, state agencies, and other external stakeholders, translating complex healthcare performance results into compelling executive narratives of the value Equality Health delivers. Establish consistent approaches, frameworks, and materials to communicate Equality Health’s impact while tailoring the value story to the priorities and needs of each audience. Serve as a senior subject-matter expert in customer discussions, executive and Board presentations, business development, and external communications related to Equality Health’s value-based care impact. Strategy & Cross-Functional Partnership Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on value-based care performance, opportunities to increase impact, and areas of performance or customer risk. Shape the strategy, design, and evolution of Equality Health’s value-based care models, reflecting how Equality Health delivers value to different stakeholders and helps address changing healthcare market dynamics Partner closely with Clinical, Medical Economics, Actuarial, Finance, Operations, Product, Network, Growth, and customer-facing teams to align around how Equality Health creates and demonstrates value. Bring the payer and provider perspective into internal discussions about program design, operating priorities, and investments to ensure Equality Health remains focused on outcomes that matter most to its partners. Measures of Success Establish a trusted and consistent framework for defining and demonstrating the value created by Equality Health’s model. Deliver clear, credible, and differentiated value stories for Equality Health’s payer partners that strengthen executive relationships, demonstrate impact, and support retention and growth. Establish a compelling provider value story that supports the recruitment, engagement, and retention of providers participating in Equality Health’s affiliated model. Improve the quality, consistency, and credibility of impact measurement and external value reporting across payer relationships and markets. Ensure Equality Health can clearly articulate the drivers of its clinical, financial, operational, and patient-level impact—not simply report performance results. Translate evidence of performance into actionable insights that influence organizational priorities and strengthen Equality Health’s value proposition. Build strong cross-functional alignment among clinical, analytical, financial, operational, network, and commercial teams around how Equality Health defines, creates, and communicates value. Required Qualifications 10+ years of progressive experience in value-based care, healthcare economics, healthcare analytics, actuarial analysis, outcomes research, population health, healthcare strategy, or a related field. Significant experience within or partnering with health plans, provider organizations, risk-bearing medical groups, accountable care organizations, healthcare technology companies, or management services organizations. Deep understanding of value-based care models, including total cost of care, shared savings, downside risk, capitation, quality incentives, and provider performance. Strong understanding of healthcare claims, clinical, financial, quality, and operational data and how these data are used to evaluate clinical and financial performance. Knowledge of attribution, risk adjustment, benchmarking, trend, program evaluation, and financial impact measurement, with the ability to assess the credibility and limitations of different measurement approaches. Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex clinical, financial, and operational results into a clear and compelling value story tailored to the priorities of payer, provider, and executive audiences. Experience developing and communicating evidence of value, impact, or ROI to senior healthcare executives and external partners. Demonstrated ability to move from analysis to insight—identifying what matters, why it matters, and the implications for strategy, customers, and the business. Experience working cross-functionally with clinical, actuarial, finance, analytics, operations, product, network, growth, and commercial teams. Exceptional executive communication, storytelling, and presentation skills, with the ability to establish credibility and influence across senior leadership, Boards, payer and provider executives, and other external stakeholders. Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, mathematics, public health, health services research, actuarial science, business, data science, or a related discipline. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree or other advanced degree in a relevant field. Deep experience with Medicaid managed care and populations, including an understanding of the clinical, social, operational, and economic dynamics that influence Medicaid outcomes. Experience developing value propositions and performance narratives for payer and/or provider partners within a value-based care environment. Experience evaluating healthcare interventions using comparative, longitudinal, or other rigorous program-evaluation methodologies. Familiarity with causal inference and quasi-experimental study design and the ability to appropriately interpret and communicate findings from these analyses. Experience supporting customer relationships, contract renewals, growth opportunities, or strategic partnerships through evidence of clinical and financial impact. Experience presenting performance and value results to Boards, customers, investors, regulators, or other senior external audiences. Leadership Competencies Value orientation: Maintains a relentless focus on understanding, demonstrating, and strengthening the value Equality Health creates for payer and provider partners.
