About The Opportunity
The Grant and Research Writer strengthens OEF's ability to identify suitable funding opportunities and prepare credible applications. The role turns programme plans, organisational information and reliable research into clear, persuasive funding materials.
Who we are looking for
A resourceful and self-directed researcher and persuasive writer who can interpret funder requirements, organise complex information, propose strong funding angles and develop evidence-led applications. Previous grant-writing experience is valuable, although strong research and professional writing ability may be sufficient.
Nice to have: Familiarity with Google Workspace, grant databases, funding portals, opportunity trackers and AI-enabled research or drafting tools. Applicants should be able to use AI as a productivity aid while independently checking sources, figures and eligibility information. The ability to learn new platforms quickly is valued.
Core responsibilities
- Research grants, institutional funders and partnership opportunities aligned with OEF's mission and eligibility.
- Review funding guidelines, deadlines, compliance requirements and application criteria.
- Draft concept notes, proposal sections, application responses and partner briefs.
- Maintain an accurate opportunity pipeline with requirements, deadlines and next actions.
- Coordinate with programme and leadership contributors to gather evidence, budgets and supporting information.
Expectations
- A commitment of 10 hours per week for at least three months, arranged flexibly around agreed deadlines.
- Strong research, analytical and persuasive writing skills.
- Accuracy when working with evidence, budgets, eligibility rules and submission requirements.
- Consistent delivery against application and internal review deadlines.
- Sound judgement when identifying information gaps or unsupported claims.
- Initiative to identify promising opportunities, develop persuasive approaches and progress agreed research or drafting work independently.
