The National Cyber & Forensics Alliance (NCFA) supports university societies, students, industry professionals, and partner organisations through collaboration, resources, events, and national networking.

NCFA works to provide a collaborative platform where individuals passionate about cyber security, digital forensics, and technology can connect, learn, and contribute to the wider community.

Role Overview

NCFA is seeking a Volunteer Web Developer Associate to contribute to the design and development of a new WordPress website that will support our organisation’s growing community and digital presence.

This is a flexible, remote volunteer opportunity suited to someone who wants to apply their web development skills while contributing to a meaningful community initiative.

The selected volunteer will have the opportunity to participate in the full development process, including planning, design, implementation, and launch of the platform. This role provides an opportunity to work on a real-world project that will be used by a national network of cyber security and digital forensics communities.

This role is voluntary with no expectation of payment. It is intended as a portfolio-building and community contribution opportunity.

What You’ll Contribute To

Volunteers may contribute to a range of development activities, including:

• Designing and developing a new website using WordPress

• Creating a professional and accessible visual design and user experience

• Implementing frontend and backend functionality

• Structuring pages, navigation, and site architecture

• Developing features such as user forms, login systems, and resource pages

• Supporting the creation of a modern, scalable digital platform for NCFA

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should have:

• Experience working with WordPress

• Good understanding of HTML and CSS

• Familiarity with JavaScript

• Understanding of WordPress themes, plugins, and site structure

• Ability to contribute independently to web development tasks

Additional Experience (Beneficial)

Experience with any of the following may be helpful but is not required:

• PHP

• WordPress builders such as Elementor or Gutenberg

• Version control using Git or GitHub

• Web hosting, deployment, and basic server configuration

• UX/UI design principles
