WHO WE ARE:
Teton Ridge is a visionary force in Western sports, entertainment, media, and lifestyle, dedicated to growing the world of the American West to new fans. Our content and events engage a broad community of fans while preserving the traditions and legacy of the American West.

From large-scale events like The American Rodeo to The Cowboy Channel, short films, digital and print media, and social-first content, Teton Ridge tells the stories of the rich culture of the American West. Join us in shaping the future of Western sports and entertainment!

WHO YOU ARE:
We're looking for a VP, Controller to lead and shape our accounting function. Reporting to the CFO, you'll own the close, consolidation, technical accounting, audit, tax compliance and controls across a multi-entity group spanning media, subscription streaming, advertising, film and TV, and live sports and events.
This is a player-coach role for a builder. You've led a high-performing accounting team before. You're comfortable in the detail, and you bring structure, clear ownership and calm to a team ready for its next chapter.
You're also a thinker about what accounting should become. Over time, we want faster, more reliable reporting, supported by automation and AI. Getting there starts with strong foundations - clean structures, consistent data and disciplined processes - and you'll lead that work.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Lead and develop the team. Build a process-based workflow with clear ownership, review and backup, and grow the people in it.
  • Own the close and financial reporting. Deliver timely, accurate consolidated results across a complex multi-entity structure, and steadily make reporting faster and more useful.
  • Set the technical accounting standard. Own policy and judgment across:
  • revenue recognition for advertising, subscription and platform distribution, film and TV licensing, and live events;
  • film and content cost capitalization, amortization and impairment;
  • programming rights;
  • complex transactions such as production financings, acquisitions, dispositions and entity restructuring.
  • Build the data foundation. Redesign our chart of accounts and reporting dimensions so the ledger, source systems and our data platform tell one consistent story. Then use automation and AI to take manual work out of the close, reconciliations, order-to-cash and payables.
  • Strengthen controls and lead the audit. Be the primary partner to our auditors, and make sure speed and automation come with strong controls.
  • Manage tax compliance with our external advisors, including partnership, sales and use, and payroll matters.
  • Partner across the business with FP&A, technology and business leaders, so financial information is useful for decisions, not just correct.

HOW YOU WILL SUCCEED:

  • Deep command of US GAAP, applied with practical, commercial judgment.
  • A builder's temperament: you bring structure to a team in transition, delegate well, and raise the capability of the people around you.
  • A systems and data mindset: you understand how the general ledger, source systems and a cloud data platform fit together, and how to design them for speed and reliability.
  • Comfort with how film and TV projects are financed and accounted for (single-purpose production entities, production loans, tax incentives and distribution agreements), or the appetite to learn it quickly.
  • Curiosity about AI and automation, with a realistic view of what works today and what needs clean data first.
  • Clear, confident communication with executives, auditors and non-finance colleagues.
  • Comfort in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA required (Chartered Accountant or equivalent international qualification considered).
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years as a Controller or Assistant Controller in a multi-entity organization. Big 4 or national-firm background strongly preferred.
  • Track record of leading an external audit and strengthening internal controls.
  • Experience leading an accounting clean-up, restructuring, acquisition or disposition.
  • Hands-on NetSuite (or similar ERP) fluency: chart of accounts, subsidiaries, consolidation and reporting, not just consuming its outputs.
  • Experience redesigning a chart of accounts, implementing systems, or automating finance processes. Exposure to cloud data platforms, BI tools or AI-enabled workflows is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with partnership structures (multi-entity LLCs, K-1s, allocations).
  • Strongly preferred: experience in media or entertainment, especially
    • film and TV production and distribution accounting (ASC 926, participations, production incentives and financing)
    • advertising order-to-cash (order management, delivery reconciliation, make-goods, agency billing)
    • subscription or streaming businesses
    • live sports and events
