ABOUT US

Strides Toronto Support Services (“Strides Toronto”) Strides Toronto is a multi-service agency supporting infants, children, youth and young adults from birth to age 29, and their families, primarily across east Toronto. We offer community-based, residential and treatment programs—including mental health counselling, autism services, early intervention, day treatment, education, outreach and community support—using a client-centered, evidence-informed approach. Since 2015, Strides Toronto has served as Toronto’s Lead Agency for Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health, partnering with 21 core service providers to provide system leadership, citywide planning, coordinated service delivery and program alignment. Strides Toronto also leads initiatives with broader reach, including Help Ahead and the HOPE Strategy across Toronto and One Stop Talk/Parlons Maintenant and the Provincial Youth Outreach Worker Program across Ontario.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an existing vacancy for a full-time Manager, Community Response to Exploitation and Sex Trafficking (CREST) Live-In Treatment (LIT) Program.

The Manager, CREST LIT provides clinical and administrative supervision to a multidisciplinary team, administrative and operational management, and comprehensive oversight to the CREST Live-in Treatment Program. The manager of the CREST LIT residence effectively facilitates the coordinated and integrated delivery of care to a complex and high-risk youth population by a team of community and health professionals within a residential milieu. The manager ensures adherence to best practices, licensing requirements, and compliance with legislative standards for client care in a residential setting, including the physical maintenance of the property and residence.

Due to the complexity of needs of the clients and the risks related to their association with trafficking concerns, standard educational settings are often unsuited for this population. To ensure a secure and supportive learning environment, education will be delivered through an inclusive, onsite school program, fully integrated within the wraparound live-in service delivery model. As such, the residence will also offer an on-site day treatment program as per TDSB’s ECCP (Education and Community Partnerships Program); a schoolteacher from TDSB will provide educational instruction to the clients while the CREST Team will be responsible for delivering on-site day treatment services to our clients during regular school hours.

The Manager, CREST LIT supports the appropriate pathway of care for potential residents and clients to ensure they receive timely and effective services and/or referrals. The CREST manager will also have responsibility for supporting the development of individualized assessments and treatment plans for client admission, program participation, and transition back into the community.

This is a unique management role where it is essential that the manager has the appropriate training/expertise to provide clinical and administrative leadership to an interdisciplinary service team that will be accountable for high-risk youth with complex biopsychosocial needs; as such, the role requires knowledge of DSM-V as well as an in-depth knowledge of various clinical treatment modalities (including CBT, DBT, trauma-responsive treatment, substance misuse/addiction treatment, family therapy/psychotherapy, group treatment, case management principles and life skills coaching).

This is a challenging client population with complex clinical presentations and specialized needs and requires vigilance to ensure that all associated risk factors are considered in the planning and provision of seamless, integrated services, thereby ensuring positive clinical outcomes for the clients while also assuring the overall safety of clients, residents, and staff.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Provide clinical direction, guidance, and support to a team that provides live-in treatment and day treatment services; the team is composed of Child and Youth Care Workers, Integrated Care Coordinator, Individual and Family Therapists, and a Peer Support worker, in adherence with established legislative/accredited service standards, ensuring delivery of high-quality evidence-based/evidence-informed services.

  • Oversee the coordination of a subcontracted team of independent multidisciplinary health care providers, including primary care practitioners and subject matter expert consultants in the AHT field. Monitor employee performance and ensure appropriate training and feedback are provided in a timely way. Liaise with the appropriate decision for sub-contracted team members for issues related to training and feedback.

  • Ensure staffing consistently meets program, licensing, and accreditation requirements for the successful delivery of high-quality anti-human trafficking and mental health services in a live-in treatment program operating 24 hours/day and 365 days/year.

  • Ensure all administrative requirements related to program operations including management of SOR-RL [A1] (residential licensing) reporting are completed promptly, accurately, and effectively. Maintain and build upon the AHT and Live in Treatment milieu services to ensure that services are provided in accordance with relevant legislation, accreditation standards, college and governing body requirements, MCCSS expectations, and the organization’s service delivery standards.

  • Create and maintain a safe environment for clients and staff in the residential treatment program, through appropriate training, communication, and physical space maintenance. Respond to incidents and occurrences, completing and submitting required documentation in accordance with Ministry and Agency timelines.

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of employees and clients of the CREST Live-In Treatment program through adherence to the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ministry, and organizational policies and procedures.
