AI Product Engineer | Legal AI_CNTR

We are looking for an AI Product Engineer to design, build and improve the core AI-driven software of a fast-growing legal AI company. This is a high-ownership role that combines engineering and product work. You will work directly with customers to understand real legal workflow problems and turn them into technical solutions that ship. You will own the quality, scalability and performance of what you build, from first prototype to production. The team moves fast, so you will need to drive quality and new ideas from day one without waiting for a playbook. This role suits an engineer who enjoys working close to users and seeing the direct impact of their work.

About the project:
The company is a Series A legal AI startup that builds automation for plaintiff law firms. Its platform covers medical chronologies, demand letters and medical record retrieval, saving legal teams many hours of manual work. It serves personal injury, medical malpractice, workers' compensation and SSDI (disability) practices. The roadmap also includes other data-heavy sectors such as eDiscovery, healthcare and insurance. The company is scaling quickly, with a team of 51–200 people and strong career growth opportunities.

You have:

• 5 years of software engineering experience, ideally with SaaS or AI-driven products
• Strong skills in Python, JavaScript or other relevant programming languages
• Familiarity with AI frameworks, machine learning concepts and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
• A proven ability to handle ambiguity, take initiative and deliver practical solutions in a fast-paced startup
• Strong communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work well across teams
• Ability to work full time, in person, in San Francisco

Nice to have:

• Experience at a legal tech, healthtech or other document-heavy SaaS company
• Experience building or improving AI pipelines for document processing or information extraction

What to do:

• Build and improve the company's AI-driven software, owning quality, scalability and performance end to end
• Work directly with sales and engineering to understand customer needs and turn them into shipped product
• Own product testing, debugging and optimization to make sure users have a smooth experience
• Support technical implementation and troubleshooting during customer onboarding and integration
• Keep technical documentation of designs, processes and systems up to date as the product evolves
