  • Join a mine that is expanding and has a bright future
  • Permanent role with a great site-based team
  • Attractive salary package and employee benefits

About the Role:

This is a unique role, and a rare opportunity to work on the asset owner's side of a large, contractor-operated mining fleet. Reporting to the General Manager Operations, the Asset Maintenance Specialist is MACH Energy's eyes and ears on its Company-owned heavy mobile equipment fleet, including the Komatsu 930E haul truck fleet and a newly commissioned Liebherr 9600 excavator, which are operated and maintained by the mining services contractor.

Your focus will be making sure the fleet is maintained to the agreed asset management plan and the required standard: verifying maintenance in the field, using machine health data to make sure issues are actioned, challenging major maintenance scopes and budgets, and helping shape future fleet through equipment purchases. You will also oversee the maintenance of Company-owned infrastructure and housing, and be accountable for the operation's Road Management Plan.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Provide owner-team oversight of the mining services contractor's maintenance of the Company-owned heavy mobile equipment fleet against the agreed asset management plan, OEM requirements and statutory obligations
  • Conduct field verifications to confirm maintenance is completed to the required standard, and follow up deficiencies
  • Monitor onboard machine health monitoring systems to verify that alarms and abnormal operating events are actioned and that reliability data is acted on
  • Review major maintenance schedules, scopes and budgets, including component change-outs, rebuilds and overhauls
  • Monitor and report on fleet maintenance performance, including availability, reliability, planned maintenance compliance and cost
  • Support new fleet purchases, including technical specifications, tender packages, tender evaluation and recommendations
  • Build effective working relationships with the contractor, OEMs and service providers to influence maintenance outcomes
  • Oversee the maintenance of Company-owned fixed infrastructure, grounds and Company-supplied housing, and deliver the operation's Road Management Plan

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel, Plant Mechanical or equivalent mechanical discipline; a tertiary qualification in mechanical engineering or asset management is desirable
  • Significant experience (typically 10+ years) in heavy mobile equipment maintenance in open cut mining, preferably coal
  • Demonstrated experience with large mobile mining fleets including haul trucks, excavators, dozers and ancillary equipment; Komatsu 930E and Liebherr 9600 experience preferred
  • Experience working with, or overseeing, mining services contractors and OEM representatives, ideally as an owner's representative
  • Experience using machine health and condition monitoring data to drive maintenance decisions
  • Experience reviewing maintenance scopes and budgets; equipment procurement and tender evaluation experience is desirable
  • Exposure to infrastructure, property or road maintenance (desirable)
  • Strong influencing, analytical and communication skills, and the ability to manage a broad portfolio autonomously
  • Current Australian driver's licence
