Department: Department of Psychological Science Department's Website: https://psychology.uark.edu Summary of Job Duties: The Department of Psychological Science in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to start in August 2027. This is a standard nine-month faculty appointment with a competitive startup package. All areas of Clinical Science will be considered, but we would prefer a scholar who focuses on children and adolescents, including a focus on middle/high school age youth. We are also open to those who study (a) neuropsychological or forensic assessment, (b) serious mental illness including psychotic and mood disorders, or (c)digital mental health. Ideal applicants are those whose research can link with and complement other faculty, including those who may wish to affiliate with the Center for Community-Engaged Health Equity Research, and evidence of active pursuit and/or obtaining of extramural funding. Ideal applications will also be able to supervise child and adolescent psychological assessments. Successful applicants must have (1) a PhD from an APA-accredited health service psychology program (Clinical, Counseling, School, or combined) and be licensed or license-eligible in the state of Arkansas; (2) an outstanding record of research achievement; (3) demonstration of strong commitment to both graduate-level training and undergraduate instruction, including the ability to teach, supervise, and mentor students from a wide variety of backgrounds; (4) ability to supervise a range of clinical work for people across the lifespan (including children and adolescents). This is an in-person position. Most university classes are offered face-to-face, and extensive in-person engagement in such activities as office hours, student advising, and departmental, college, and university committee meetings is essential to advancing student success and departmental effectiveness. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. About the Department: PSYC houses both a large undergraduate program (over 1,500 students) and two Ph.D. programs (i.e., Clinical Psychology and Experimental Psychology). The department has more than 30 full-time faculty that together span a wide range of expertise in psychological science, four full-time administrative staff, over 50 Ph.D. students, and several postdoctoral fellows. The nationally registered historic building that houses PSYC—Memorial Hall—contains four floors of faculty offices, laboratory spaces, classrooms, and the Psychological Clinic, which serves as the primary training site for the Department’s fully accredited Clinical Psychology Doctoral Training Program. The Department is also home to a major private endowment that generates over $300K/year to support its research mission. This endowment funds graduate research assistants, faculty research, summer pay for grant preparation, and other research-related expenses.
