Backend Engineer

We’re partnering with an innovative AI company building secure infrastructure that enables intelligent agents to connect with enterprise applications and automate complex business workflows.

Its unified platform combines cloud services, enterprise integrations, and identity and access controls to deliver secure, reliable AI automation across existing business systems.

We’re seeking a Backend Engineer to build and scale the backend services, cloud infrastructure, and integration frameworks powering these workflows. You’ll help shape core architecture, strengthen security, and improve platform performance while taking ownership of key engineering initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Build scalable backend systems: Develop and maintain distributed services that reliably support AI agents across enterprise environments.
• Develop security and identity systems: Implement authentication, role-based access controls, tenant isolation, identity lifecycle management, and account provisioning.
• Integrate enterprise applications: Connect with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, email, and telephony providers.
• Build APIs and integration frameworks: Create reusable interfaces and tools enabling AI agents to interact with third-party applications through secure, authorized workflows.
• Optimize reliability and performance: Improve scalability, fault tolerance, availability, efficiency, and maintainability of production systems.
• Own projects end to end: Contribute to technical design, development, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing improvement of critical platform capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in backend development, infrastructure, cloud platforms, distributed systems, or a related discipline.
• Experience building and supporting production software, with knowledge of scalability, security, performance, and reliability.
• Ability to drive engineering projects from technical planning through deployment and production support.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical decision-making skills.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: $275,000–$320,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications
• Location: San Francisco, CA, Hybrid
