Veterinary Surgeon to Clinical Director – Scotland to Colchester
Ready for a new adventure and the next step in your veterinary career?
Are you an experienced Veterinary Surgeon based looking to relocate to South East England? Do you have 5+ years of clinical experience, and are ready to take that next step into leadership?
Perhaps you've started thinking about where your career could take you next. You love being a vet, enjoy working with your team and want to have a greater influence on clinical standards, colleague development and the future of a practice.
At Penrose Veterinary Group in Colchester, we're offering the opportunity to do exactly that.
This isn't just a job move. It's an opportunity to relocate to a new part of the country, take on a rewarding Clinical Director position and build the next chapter of your veterinary career.
Why Penrose?
Penrose is an established small animal practice with over 35 years of experience caring for pets and their owners across Colchester and the surrounding community.
You'll be joining a practice that combines the familiarity and relationships of a well-established local veterinary team with the support and shared expertise of Kin Vet Community.
Here's what makes this opportunity worth considering:
- A relocation bonus to help with relocating you!
- An established practice: Build on the relationships, reputation and foundations already in place rather than starting from scratch.
- Excellent clinical facilities: Access to diagnostic and treatment equipment including digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy and in-house laboratory testing.
- Experienced nursing support: Work collaboratively with nursing colleagues to deliver high standards of patient care.
- A varied clinical caseload: Continue developing your clinical interests while supporting the team with consultations, diagnostics and surgical cases.
- Support beyond the practice: Benefit from the wider knowledge, collaboration and development opportunities available through Kin Vet Community.
- A genuine career step: Move into a leadership role where you can influence clinical quality, mentor colleagues and help shape the practice's future.
Your opportunity as Clinical Director
This role is ideal for a Veterinary Surgeon who is ready to broaden their responsibilities while remaining connected to clinical practice.
You'll work alongside the Practice Manager and wider leadership team, helping to create an environment where colleagues feel supported, clinical standards remain high and patients receive the best possible care.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing clinical leadership and championing excellent patient care.
- Supporting, mentoring and developing veterinary colleagues.
- Promoting clinical governance, evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.
- Helping shape the clinical direction and future development of the practice.
- Building strong relationships with clients and maintaining the personal approach that makes a difference to their experience.
- Working collaboratively with the wider team to balance clinical excellence with the successful day-to-day running of the practice.
Is this the right move for you?
We're interested in speaking with Veterinary Surgeons who have around 5+ years' experience and are ready to take the next step.
You don't necessarily need to have held a Clinical Director title before. If you've been mentoring colleagues, supporting clinical decisions or taking on additional responsibilities, you may already have the foundations to make this move.
We're looking for someone who is clinically confident, approachable, enjoys bringing people together and wants to make a positive difference to both the team and the practice.
And what about relocating to Colchester?
Moving from Scotland to Essex is a big decision, but it could be the fresh start you've been looking for. Colchester offers a mix of historic character, town-centre amenities, countryside and easy access to the Essex coast. It provides a different pace and setting while offering the opportunity to progress your career in an established veterinary practice.
If you're considering a move anyway, why not make it a move that takes your career forward too?
