This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality inpatient care for adults experiencing acute mental health difficulties while contributing to service development within one of the region's leading mental health trusts.
Recruitment & Retention Package
We are offering an enhanced Recruitment & Retention Package of £45,000, paid over three years:

In addition, a relocation allowance of up to £8,000 may be available, subject to eligibility.
The opportunity
Falmer Ward is based within Mill View Hospital, home to four adult acute wards alongside established community and crisis services.
You'll work alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team including nursing colleagues, occupational therapists, psychologists, resident doctors and a 0.9 WTE SAS Doctor, ensuring strong medical support and collaborative decision-making.
The on-site Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team works closely with inpatient services to facilitate safe discharge planning and continuity of care, while community mental health teams based within the hospital support integrated pathways for patients moving between services.
This role offers the opportunity to focus on high-quality inpatient psychiatry while contributing to service development, teaching and quality improvement.
What you'll be doing
• Providing assessment and treatment for voluntary and detained patients on a 20-bed acute adult mental health ward
• Acting as Responsible Clinician where appropriate
• Providing senior medical leadership within the multidisciplinary team
• Working closely with nursing, psychology, occupational therapy and medical colleagues to deliver person-centred care
• Supporting complex clinical decision-making and risk management
• Liaising with community teams, primary care and acute hospital services
• Supervising and supporting junior medical colleagues
• Contributing to service development, teaching and quality improvement initiatives
About you
We're looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist with expertise in General Adult Psychiatry who is committed to delivering compassionate, recovery-focused inpatient care.
You will be on, or within six months of joining, the GMC Specialist Register and be eligible for Approved Clinician status.
