Lead What Comes Next

Gympie Regional Council is seeking a full-time Coordinator Growth Management on a 24-month fixed-term contract, based in Gympie, QLD.

Reporting to the Manager Planning Strategy and Growth within the Community Sustainability Directorate, you will lead Council's growth management program and act as the technical authority on growth and development sequencing. You will turn strategic direction into practical, well-sequenced outcomes for priority growth areas, leading project teams and specialist consultants and advising Council and senior leaders along the way.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate structure plans and development frameworks
  • Manage strategic planning projects from planning through to delivery
  • Provide advice on land supply, growth opportunities and development sequencing
  • Work with infrastructure, finance and asset teams to align growth and infrastructure planning
  • Build relationships with State Government, developers, utilities and industry stakeholders
  • Coordinate consultants and provide technical leadership
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for senior leadership and Council

What You'll Bring

To qualify, you will need a tertiary qualification in Urban Planning, Development Management, Construction or Project Management, or a related field. You will also need demonstrated experience in growth management, strategic land use planning, or managing complex development and infrastructure projects, within government or a similar environment.

You'll bring extensive experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects involving land use planning, infrastructure and stakeholder coordination.

As the ideal candidate, you will be a skilled negotiator and collaborator who works constructively with Councillors, senior management and government agencies.

You will also bring sound professional judgement to complex growth issues.

A current Queensland C Class Driver Licence, or the ability to obtain one, is also required. The role involves occasional work outside normal business hours, including community and stakeholder meetings.
