Company Overview

Our client is a globally recognised construction and property consultancy, providing cost management and quantity surveying services across a broad range of major developments throughout Australia. Their work spans commercial, healthcare, residential, data centre and infrastructure sectors, supporting both public and private sector clients.

With a long-established presence in the Australian market and an international network behind them, they are known for technical excellence, independent advice and strong, long-term client relationships. Their teams are regularly trusted with some of the most significant and complex projects in the country.

Continued investment across Queensland’s construction and infrastructure markets is driving growth in their Brisbane office, particularly in specialist building services cost management. They are now looking to bring experienced MEP quantity surveyors from the UK and Ireland into the team, recognising the strong technical grounding and transferable expertise that professionals from these markets offer.

Working Environment & Projects

You will join an established, specialist building services cost management team made up of experienced MEP quantity surveyors working alongside the wider cost management practice. The culture is professional, supportive and collaborative, with senior colleagues invested in developing their people and helping new arrivals settle into the Australian market.

The project portfolio is varied and high-profile, covering major commercial developments, healthcare facilities, residential schemes, data centres and infrastructure. These projects are typically services-intensive and technically complex, giving you the opportunity to apply and broaden your MEP expertise on a larger and more diverse range of work.

The role covers the full cost management lifecycle, from early-stage cost planning and estimating through procurement and tender analysis to post-contract cost management and final accounts. You will work closely with clients, design teams and contractors, gaining exposure to Australian contract frameworks and market practice while drawing on the methodologies and experience you bring from the UK or Ireland.

Brisbane offers an outstanding quality of life, with a warm climate, a relaxed outdoor lifestyle and a strong, sustained pipeline of construction activity. For UK and Ireland-based professionals, this is a chance to make a career-defining move with an employer that understands and supports international relocation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare MEP cost plans and detailed estimates across all stages of design development
  • Provide specialist mechanical, electrical, fire, hydraulic and vertical transportation cost advice to clients and project teams
  • Manage procurement processes, including preparation of tender documentation and trade packages
  • Undertake tender analysis, evaluation and reporting with clear commercial recommendations
  • Deliver post-contract cost management, including valuations, variations, cost reporting and final accounts
  • Review design documentation to identify cost risks, value engineering and value management opportunities
  • Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and contractors across a diverse project portfolio
  • Mentor and support junior and intermediate quantity surveyors within the building services team

What You Need

  • 7+ years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor specialising in mechanical and electrical building services
  • Background within a PQS or cost consultancy environment strongly preferred
  • Technical strength across MEP cost planning, detailed estimating, procurement and tender analysis
  • Proven post-contract cost management experience on significant projects
  • Exposure to services-intensive sectors such as healthcare, data centres or large commercial developments beneficial but not essential
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building Services or a related discipline; MRICS or working towards chartership advantageous
  • Strong communication skills and a genuine motivation to relocate to Brisbane and build a long-term career in Australia

What You’ll Get in Return

This position offers a package of up to AUD $200,000, reflecting the seniority and specialist nature of the role. Potential employer-supported relocation is available for the right candidate, helping make the move to Brisbane as smooth as possible. More importantly, the role provides a long-term platform within a globally recognised consultancy, with exposure to major Australian projects, international career development and clear progression within a growing specialist building services team.
