Founding Product Designer

Salary up to £160k + Equity

London or SF based Onsite

Sponsorship available candidates based already in UK/US

3 Stage interview process

Do you look for impact alongside great design? Imagine designing software that could help save lives.

I’m working with a founding-stage company that designs a personalised cancer vaccine for each patient, built from their own blood and tumour samples. They’re helping people who’ve run out of standard options, and they’ve just received their first FDA clearance to treat patients.

They’re hiring their first dedicated Founding Product Designer:

🧬 Design the first patient- and clinician-facing product from scratch

🎨 Redesign their scientific dashboard with a much stronger point of view

🚀 Own the UX, visual design and build, with no spec, PM or design lead in between

💰 $35M raised, ~20 people, $185–205K base + 0.05–0.25% founding equity

📍 On-site, London or San Francisco

🛠️ React, TypeScript, Python, Postgres

What you'll do

- Design and build the first patient- and clinician-facing product. You'll turn the existing data (antigen prediction, vaccine design, case status) into a clear, opinionated interface where patients and doctors see results and manage their case.

- Redesign the scientific dashboard from scratch. Today it explains the vaccine design process to clinical teams and patients. You'll own its UX, visual design and implementation, and give it a much more opinionated design.

- Work closely with the clinical, wet lab, manufacturing and engineering teams to learn their workflows and design the right UX for each one.

- Design and build internal tools that coordinate operations, like who can access which patient data, email follow-ups and processes with manufacturing and CRO partners. They all run on one shared database.

What they’re looking for

→ Strong design sense, shown through a portfolio, personal site or side project with real taste and thoughtful UX

Should be able to implement design ideas both (front- end & back- end)

→ 1–6 years as a product designer, design engineer or product engineer who builds with code or AI tools

→ Experience at a Seed to Series C startup (small team, low process), or strong product ownership at a larger company

→ Able to work on-site in San Francisco or London

Why candidates should join

Two greenfield surfaces: You’ll design the first patient and clinician dashboard, plus internal tools used by the wet lab, clinical, manufacturing and engineering teams.

Taste wins here: AI makes the code easier. The team cares most about your judgment on what to build and how it should feel.

Design that ships: No handoff and no one translating your work. What you design is what goes live, in front of patients and doctors.
