Show job description

Would you like to be part of Pfizer’s commercial AI and analytics transformation? We are looking for a Director of Analytic Strategy and Innovation to lead high-visibility strategic initiatives within a portfolio of complex analytics and AI programs across Global Commercial Analytics (GCA) and the Chief Marketing Office (CMO).

Reporting to the Analytic Strategy and Innovation (ASI) Lead, this person is a transformation lead. You will typically own one to two strategic initiatives at a time, taking each from business case through planning, delivery, deployment and adoption. You will work alongside a product owner on each initiative: the product owner owns the product and its backlog; you own the program, business translation, and execution of the adoption plan.

You will partner with GCA leaders, brand and CMO teams, Integrated Insights & Strategy (IIS), Data Science, Data Engineering, Analytic Excellence, and platform and vendor partners to turn business priorities into programs that land. The ideal candidate pairs a program leadership track record with the ability to translate between business, analytics and technology teams, and has delivered analytics or AI capabilities into real use in a commercial organization. Your center of gravity is delivery: you can shape a business case, but you are judged on programs that land. You will have direct exposure to GCA and CMO leadership.

We are looking for someone who takes ownership, brings structure to ambiguity, and protects people’s time. You communicate scope and responsibilities clearly, escalate early, know when to decide and when to bring a decision to leadership, and have the intellectual curiosity to constantly learn, unlearn, and re-learn.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

You will lead strategic initiatives end to end, partnering with IIS, Data Science, Data Engineering, Analytic Excellence, and partner teams across Sales, Marketing, Operations and Finance. You will shape the business case, establish scope, schedule and accountabilities, manage risks, dependencies and decisions through delivery, and own the transition into adoption. You will work with the ASI Lead and GCA leadership to connect your initiatives to the broader portfolio, which is managed with agility to pivot as priorities change. Most importantly, the best ASI partners are effective and considerate leaders, strong teammates, and champions of an empowering and inclusive team culture.

  • Lead one to two complex, cross-functional strategic initiatives at a time, from business case and problem definition through execution, deployment and adoption
  • Develop and own the business case: define the problem, quantify the opportunity, frame options, and recommend an approach that balances impact, cost, resourcing, timeline, likelihood of success and risk
  • Build and own integrated program plans, translating objectives into milestones, deliverables, decision points and accountabilities across matrixed teams and external partners
  • Partner with the product owner on scope, sequencing and release planning so program commitments are met; bring data and planning expertise to prioritization trade-offs
  • Act as the business translator between commercial leaders, analytics and data science teams, and technology and platform partners, so requirements, constraints and decisions are understood on all sides
  • Proactively identify and resolve risks, dependencies and delivery challenges, and escalate decisions to leadership when necessary
  • Lead executive communications for your initiatives, including roadmaps, business cases, progress, trade-offs and recommendations, and conduct periodic reviews with executive sponsors
  • Drive the development and implementation of OKRs for your initiatives, consistent with GCA and CMO priorities, and track outcomes after deployment
  • Create and execute change management and adoption plans, from pilot through deployment, in partnership with change management and training resources
  • Manage business-critical metrics on workload, delivery and performance across the ASI portfolio for the ASI Lead, and build the analytic products that track them
  • Support the ASI Lead on group strategyand strategic assessments as needed
  • Promote innovation and challenge the status quo: identify new opportunities and areas of waste, and propose solutions
  • Demonstrate foresight and judgment in complex decisions and bring clarity to ambiguous situations for cross-functional teams
  • Lead regular communication with teammates, partners and leadership
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies and best practices in commercial analytics, AI, program and product management, and recommend improvements
