Overview
Lead clinical governance, patient safety, research and knowledge translation to improve the care patients receive across the District.

The organisation
MNCLHD delivers hospital, community and preventive health services across a diverse region from Port Macquarie to Coffs Harbour. With a $1.03 billion budget, a growing population of over 230,000 and significant Aboriginal and culturally diverse communities, Mid North Coast LHD plays a central role in improving health outcomes for rural and regional communities.

Mid North Coast LHD has redesigned its Executive Leadership Team to be contemporary, collaborative and fit for the future. Guided by the NSW Health values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment, MNCLHD is working towards its vision of a healthy, well and thriving Mid North Coast.

The opportunity
Reporting to the Chief Executive and leading a team of approximately 40, the District Director will:

  • Lead clinical governance, patient safety, clinical risk and the management of serious incidents across the District
  • Build one consistent, district-wide approach to clinical governance, including a new clinical governance strategic plan
  • Lead accreditation against the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards, working closely with the Clinical Excellence Commission and the Agency for Clinical Innovation
  • Grow research, innovation and knowledge translation, so evidence becomes everyday practice

About you
You are a contemporary, values-led leader who builds trust and brings people with you through change. You may come from medicine, nursing, allied health or health service management.
You will bring:

  • Significant senior experience leading clinical governance, patient safety and quality in a complex health service
  • Experience leading accreditation and standardising practice across sites
  • Experience translating research or evidence into better care; a research higher degree is desirable
  • A record of leading teams through change, and relevant tertiary qualifications
  • A current NSW driver licence and the ability to travel across the district

What's on offer

  • Report directly to the Chief Executive as a member of the Executive Leadership Team
  • Lead a new portfolio that brings governance, innovation and research together
  • Shape how Mid North Coast prepares for the next edition of the national safety and quality standards
  • Open to leaders from medicine, nursing, allied health and health service management
  • Choose your base within the region, for example Port Macquarie or Coffs Harbour
  • Live and work on the Mid North Coast, with relocation support available
