Senior Electrical Engineer, Robotics
Watertown, MA
Up to $220K + Equity
Open to Visa transfers
My client is a Series B robotics startup rethinking industrial automation with smarter robots, a radically better software stack, and a business model built for speed. Our core platform enables AI-powered robots-as-a-service with zero custom engineering and minimal deployment friction. That means we can drop into customer facilities at 10x lower cost and with 10x more flexibility than legacy players.
We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer, Robotics with 4+ years of experience to ideate, prototype, iterate, deploy, and scale the electrical systems behind our next generation of AI-powered robots. We want a relentless builder with deep PCB and power electronics chops who can figure out pretty much anything and push hardware from concept to manufacture at startup speed.
Requirements
• Hands-on PCB board design as main engineering work, plus robot wire harnessing and component selection (power, communication)
• Ability to work on-site in Watertown, MA (5 days/week)
• 4 - 10 years of experience as an electrical engineer
• BS or higher in Electrical Engineering, or related engineering field
• AI fluency (Claude, Cursor, building agents, scripts, or workflows)
• Cross-functional collaboration across engineering teams
• Robotics, automotive/EV (CAN, automotive Ethernet, battery work), large consumer goods, or aerospace startups doing new product development.
• Experience in a startup (Series A to Series D) or fast-paced engineering environment
• Experience with communication protocols (CAN bus, Automotive Ethernet)
What will you be doing?
• Designing and iterating on motor control boards, power distribution boards, and battery management systems
• Selecting and integrating actuators and sensors for robots
• Writing firmware and working on hardware and software in the loop
• Taking designs from early prototype through manufacturing at scale
• Owning ambiguous, open-ended problems and driving projects forward
Why candidates should join
• Just raised a $75M round led by a16z
• Founded at MIT. The team is fully full stack: they design and manufacture robot hardware, train their own AI models and run their own fleet across the US.
• You'll own new robot electrical systems end to end. Think motor control boards, power distribution, battery management and actuator integration, from first prototype to scaled manufacturing.
• Your boards go into real robots like a semi-humanoid with frontier dexterity and another which moves boxes and pallets for customers ranging from family-owned shops to huge brands
• It's a builder's culture. The team cares about what you've actually shipped and how fast you figure things out, not how polished your resume looks.
