Role: Electrical Engineer - Robotics & Embodied AI

Location: San Carlos, CA (On-Site)

About the Opportunity

We're partnering with a well-funded, stealth-mode Embodied AI startup building next-generation robotic systems for real-world warehouse and logistics applications.

Backed by leading investors and already working toward large-scale commercial deployment, the company is developing intelligent robotic platforms that combine cutting-edge AI with advanced hardware systems. As an early member of the engineering team, you'll have the opportunity to shape core products from concept through deployment while working alongside experienced leaders from world-class robotics organizations.

The Role

We're seeking a hands-on Electrical Engineer to join the founding hardware team. This is a highly visible role focused on designing, integrating, and validating the electrical systems that power advanced robotic platforms.

You'll own projects from prototype through production, collaborating closely with mechanical, software, and embedded engineering teams to bring innovative robotic products to life.

Responsibilities

  • Design custom PCBs using Altium Designer or KiCad
  • Perform board bring-up, validation, and hardware debugging
  • Integrate motors, encoders, IMUs, cameras, and other robotics sensors
  • Troubleshoot electrical and system-level issues using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
  • Work with embedded communication protocols including I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN
  • Architect electrical systems with power, size, and performance constraints in mind
  • Support rapid prototyping, testing, and iteration cycles
  • Collaborate with manufacturing partners to transition designs into production
  • Work cross-functionally with mechanical, software, and robotics teams

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands-on electrical engineering experience
  • PCB design experience using Altium or KiCad
  • Experience with board bring-up and hardware debugging
  • Strong understanding of I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN protocols
  • Hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and soldering
  • Experience integrating motors, actuators, encoders, IMUs, cameras, or similar sensors
  • Strong system-level thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hardware development environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Robotics, autonomous systems, drones, wearables, VR/AR, or consumer electronics experience
  • Experience with motor control or actuator electronics
  • Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) experience
  • Startup experience
  • Personal engineering projects, portfolio, Formula SAE, FIRST Robotics, research projects, or similar hands-on work

What You'll Get

  • Founding-team equity
  • Opportunity to build products from the ground up
  • Significant ownership and technical influence
  • Exposure to cutting-edge robotics and AI technologies
  • Visa sponsorship and relocation support available
  • Fast-growing, highly collaborative engineering environment
