This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys working with complex electrical equipment, takes pride in high-quality workmanship and wants to contribute to the development of technically advanced industrial systems.
The successful candidate will play an important role in building electrical control panels, integrating electrical components into larger equipment assemblies and ensuring completed systems meet the highest standards of quality, performance and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Control Panel Assembly
- Build and wire industrial electrical control panels, including single-phase and three-phase power systems, 230VAC control circuits and PELV DC control circuits.
- Assemble electrical components and complete wiring installations in accordance with engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and technical specifications.
- Use specialist electrical assembly tools, including ferrule crimpers, wire strippers and other relevant equipment.
- Manufacture and install cable looms, connectors and wiring assemblies.
- Maintain excellent standards of cable routing, organisation and overall panel presentation.
- Ensure all electrical assemblies meet relevant quality and safety requirements.
Electrical Installation & System Integration
- Install completed electrical control panels into larger industrial equipment and machinery assemblies.
- Connect electrical systems to associated components, including sensors, actuators, instrumentation and other control devices.
- Carry out electrical fitting, cable routing and equipment integration efficiently and accurately.
- Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure systems are assembled to specification.
- Identify opportunities to improve installation methods, assembly processes and overall manufacturing efficiency.
Electrical Testing & Quality Assurance
- Conduct routine electrical testing and inspection of completed control panels and integrated systems.
- Use electrical test equipment, including multimeters, loop testers, insulation resistance testers and high-voltage test equipment.
- Perform testing in accordance with defined procedures, technical specifications and applicable standards.
- Accurately record test results and maintain relevant quality documentation.
- Identify, investigate and rectify electrical faults or non-conformances.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality and manufacturing teams to resolve technical issues and ensure completed equipment meets required standards.
Engineering & Product Development Support
- Assist with electrical builds for prototype equipment, testing rigs and product development projects.
- Support the introduction of new electrical designs into manufacturing.
- Provide practical feedback to engineering teams regarding electrical assembly, installation and testing.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across electrical manufacturing processes.
- Adapt to changing technical requirements and support a variety of engineering projects.
Health & Safety
- Follow established electrical safety procedures and safe working practices at all times.
- Ensure electrical installations, testing activities and equipment handling are conducted safely.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Identify and report potential hazards, equipment faults and safety concerns.
- Support compliance with relevant electrical regulations, industry standards and internal procedures.
Essential Skills & Experience
- 2–5 years' experience in electrical control panel wiring, industrial electrical assembly or machinery integration.
- Strong practical experience building and wiring industrial electrical control panels.
- Experience working with single-phase and three-phase electrical systems.
- Good understanding of 230VAC control circuits and low-voltage DC control systems.
- Familiarity with relevant electrical standards, particularly BS EN 60204-1 and BS 7671.

- Knowledge of ATEX electrical installations and relevant BS EN 60079 standards.
- CompEx certification or equivalent hazardous-area electrical training.
- Experience supporting prototype builds, R&D projects or new product development.
- Familiarity with electrical control systems, instrumentation and industrial automation.
- Experience contributing to electrical testing procedures and quality assurance processes.
- Ability to identify manufacturing improvements and provide practical input into engineering designs.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, low-volume or specialist manufacturing environment.
