As the business continues to expand its manufacturing and engineering capabilities, we are looking for an experienced Test Technician to support the testing, inspection and validation of complex electromechanical systems.

This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys working with technically challenging equipment, solving engineering problems and ensuring manufactured products meet the highest standards of quality, performance and safety.

The successful candidate will play an important role in developing and executing testing procedures, identifying technical issues and working closely with engineering, manufacturing and quality teams to ensure equipment is ready for operational use.

Key Responsibilities

Testing & Validation of Electromechanical Systems

  • Carry out comprehensive testing of complex electromechanical equipment and industrial systems.
  • Perform mechanical, electrical and pressure system testing following manufacturing and assembly.
  • Set up and operate specialist testing equipment, tools and test rigs.
  • Execute testing procedures in accordance with engineering specifications, quality standards and established processes.
  • Accurately record, document and report test results, ensuring full traceability.
  • Identify faults, performance issues and non-conformances during testing.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, assembly and quality teams to investigate and resolve technical issues.
  • Support the development and improvement of testing procedures to ensure efficient and consistent product validation.
  • Ensure testing activities are completed accurately and within required production timescales.

Research, Development & Prototype Testing

  • Support the assembly, setup and testing of prototype equipment and development systems.
  • Assist engineering teams with testing activities during product development and design validation.
  • Work with a variety of test equipment and methodologies as technical requirements evolve.
  • Provide practical feedback to engineers regarding equipment performance, test results and potential design improvements.
  • Contribute to the introduction of new products and systems into manufacturing.
  • Support the development of repeatable and scalable testing processes.

Product Lifecycle & Engineering Support

  • Provide technical input into testing requirements throughout the product development and manufacturing lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams during the design phase to ensure products can be effectively tested and validated.
  • Assist with the development and commissioning of test rigs and specialist testing equipment.
  • Support production testing, final inspection and equipment readiness assessments.
  • Contribute to troubleshooting and fault-finding activities on completed assemblies.
  • Provide technical support for equipment testing and validation where required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency, product reliability and manufacturing quality.

Quality Assurance & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of testing activities, results and identified issues.
  • Ensure equipment is tested against defined acceptance criteria and technical specifications.
  • Support quality assurance processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with investigating test failures and implementing corrective actions.
  • Work closely with manufacturing and quality teams to maintain consistent testing standards.
  • Ensure relevant documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.

Health & Safety

  • Follow established health and safety procedures during all testing activities.
  • Conduct testing of electrical, mechanical and pressure equipment in accordance with appropriate safety requirements.
  • Identify potential hazards and ensure suitable precautions and control measures are implemented.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised testing environment.
  • Report equipment defects, unsafe conditions and potential safety concerns.
  • Support compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations and internal procedures.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 2–5 years' experience in industrial testing, equipment validation, manufacturing or a similar engineering environment.
  • Practical experience testing industrial machinery, electromechanical assemblies or complex engineered equipment.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and their interaction.
  • Experience conducting functional testing, performance verification and fault diagnosis.
  • Ability to use a variety of testing equipment, measuring instruments and diagnostic tools.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications and testing documentation.
  • Familiarity with developing, following and improving testing procedures.
  • Experience accurately recording test results and maintaining quality documentation.
  • Ability to identify technical faults, investigate issues and work towards practical solutions.
  • Understanding of safe working practices when testing mechanical, electrical and pressure-related equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering or manufacturing team.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience testing pressure systems, industrial process equipment or specialist machinery.
  • Knowledge of pressure testing, leak testing and associated safety procedures.
  • Experience working with electrical testing equipment, sensors, instrumentation and control systems.
  • Familiarity with commissioning and validating complex industrial assemblies.
  • Experience supporting prototype development, R&D testing or new product introduction.
  • Understanding of manufacturing quality assurance processes and inspection requirements.
  • Experience contributing to test rig design, development or improvement.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis, fault investigation and corrective action processes.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, low-volume or specialist manufacturing environment.
