Engineering Lead – Gimbal Development | UAV & EO/IR Systems
Have you developed a stabilised gimbal system from the ground up, rather than simply integrating an existing product?
I'm working with a growing UAV technology company that's investing in the development of its own advanced gimbal and EO/IR sensor technology.
This is an opportunity to take real technical ownership of a complex engineering programme, influence the architecture of future airborne systems and help build a specialist engineering capability.
What's in it for you?
- Technical ownership of bespoke gimbal development, from initial architecture through testing and qualification.
- The opportunity to develop technology used on advanced UAV platforms, rather than integrate off-the-shelf solutions.
- Significant influence over engineering decisions, system performance and future product development.
- A senior technical leadership position with genuine hands-on involvement.
- An international engineering environment, with relocation support for candidates moving to Germany.
What we're looking for
- Direct experience developing bespoke stabilised gimbal systems, rather than solely integrating commercially available products.
- Strong understanding of multi-axis gimbal architecture and complete system operation.
- Experience with servo control, inertial stabilisation, motor drives, encoders and sensor feedback.
- Knowledge of EO/IR payloads, precision mechatronics and embedded control systems.
- Experience taking complex hardware through design, integration, testing and validation.
- Technical leadership experience across multidisciplinary engineering programmes.
- A background in aerospace, defence, UAVs, optronics or comparable precision stabilisation technology.
You understand how to engineer the gimbal itself - not just how to mount one onto an aircraft.
If you've worked on developing stabilised EO/IR systems and want greater ownership of the technology and technical direction, I'd be interested in speaking with you.
