Have you designed and developed a gimbal system from scratch, rather than simply integrating an off-the-shelf solution?

I'm working with an innovative UAV technology company looking for an Engineering Lead with hands-on experience developing bespoke, in-house gimbal and stabilised sensor systems.

This isn't a role focused on integrating commercially available gimbals. We're looking for someone who understands the engineering behind designing, building, testing and manufacturing these systems internally.

You'll take technical ownership of the development of advanced airborne gimbal technology, working across precision mechanics, mechatronics, motion control and electro-optical payloads.

What we're looking for:

• Proven experience designing and developing bespoke gimbal systems in-house, rather than solely integrating off-the-shelf products.
• Strong technical understanding of precision mechanical design, electromechanical assemblies and multi-axis stabilisation systems.
• Experience taking complex mechatronic hardware from initial design through prototyping, testing and manufacture.
• Knowledge of servo systems, motor control, sensor feedback and motion control.
• Experience leading engineers or taking technical ownership of complex hardware development programmes.
• Background in UAVs, aerospace, defence, EO/IR imaging, robotics or other precision stabilised platforms.

Most importantly, you'll have been directly involved in building the gimbal technology itself — not just integrating it into a wider system.
