Equipment Engineering Section Manager (m/f/d)

In this role you will play a central role in managing a section-level organization, leading a team of engineers and engineering technicians. Ensure smooth daily operations, improve team efficiency, and achieve organizational goals, while also developing team members' skills and fostering employee growth and teamwork

As part of this position, you will have the unique opportunity to complete a comprehensive up to 9-month training assignment at our mother fab in Taiwan. This immersive program equips you with deep hands-on expertise in manufacturing processes, systems, production operations, and governance according to TSMCs word-leading practice — providing the foundation to operate independently and at expert level upon your return to Germany. The training will start shortly after the start date.

Job Responsibilities

  • Equipment Management: Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and optimization of semiconductor equipment within the assigned department; ensure equipment reliability, stability, and efficiency to support seamless chip production
  • Domain Expertise & Collaboration: Possess a deep understanding of equipment processes and concepts within the department. Apply this knowledge to solve technical issues, work closely with internal process and equipment teams, and collaborate with the manufacturing department to achieve organizational goals.
  • Data Analysis & Problem Solving: Utilize diverse information sources—including the latest industry trends, research, and vendor data—to evaluate complex situations. Analyze and prioritize dynamic data, collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure production quality, quantity, and timeliness.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead, motivate, and develop a section-level team, ensuring high-quality output and strong overall performance. Actively influence departmental processes and production outcomes.
  • Communication & Vendor Relations: Demonstrate exceptional internal and external communication skills. Collaborate closely with external suppliers, lead cross-functional initiatives, persuade and influence stakeholders, and effectively manage complex or sensitive information.

Your profile

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher (Master’s degree preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics/Applied Physics, Automation/Control Systems Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, including several years in a leadership or people-management role.
  • Leadership & Problem Solving: Proven track record of participating in or leading team projects and daily operations, with demonstrated strength in decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Stakeholder Management: Strong experience in cross-departmental collaboration and coordinating with diverse stakeholders.
  • Global Training: Ability and willingness to undergo on-the-job training in Taiwan for up to 9 months.
  • Language Skills: Professional proficiency in English is required; German language capability is highly advantageous.
