D. E. Shaw Research is seeking scientists with expertise in force field development to join our New York–based team. This is a unique opportunity to develop and work with transformative technology in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment.
Relevant areas of experience might include development of physics-based force fields, application of machine learning approaches to force-field development, development of novel parameterization strategies, ligand and small molecule parameterization, and force field validation and verification. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical physics, computational chemistry, biophysics, or a related field. An ideal candidate would combine a strong understanding of physics and/or machine learning with knowledge of chemistry and excellent communication skills to facilitate collaboration with our drug discovery team. Specific knowledge of any particular area is less critical, however, than strong research skills, and a record of innovation and accomplishment. Successful candidates will contribute to the development of more accurate force fields for biomolecular simulation and drug discovery.
D. E. Shaw Research (DESRES), based in New York City, develops and uses advanced computational technologies to understand the behavior of biologically and pharmaceutically significant molecules at an atomic level of detail, and to design precisely targeted, highly selective drugs for the treatment of various diseases. Among its core technologies is Anton, a proprietary special-purpose supercomputer that DESRES designed and constructed to vastly accelerate the process of molecular dynamics simulation. DESRES uses Anton machines and high-speed commodity hardware, together with machine learning methods and other computational techniques, in both internal and collaborative drug discovery programs.
We are looking to add innovative contributors who share our commitment to fostering a stimulating, positive, and collaborative work environment.
