Exceptional systems engineers sought to develop and manage systems infrastructure, software, and networks for a New York–based drug discovery and computational biochemistry research company. Opportunities are available in our New York City offices or our Durham, NC and Pittsburgh, PA data centers. Successful hires will be responsible for our server, cloud, and data environment, including:
Ideal candidates will have strong fundamental knowledge of Linux concepts such as file systems, networking, and processes in addition to practical experience administering Linux systems. Relevant areas of expertise might include large-installation systems administration, HPC systems engineering, programming and scripting of distributed systems in Python, high performance data-parallel computing, systems software, software development, email and data retention processes, Kubernetes systems engineering, and user support, but specific knowledge of and level of experience in any of these areas is less critical than intellectual curiosity, versatility, and a track record of achievement. Candidates should have excellent communication skills, and we will consider candidates at all levels of experience.
We are looking to add innovative contributors who share our commitment to fostering a stimulating, positive, and collaborative work environment.
D. E. Shaw Research (DESRES) develops and uses advanced computational technologies to understand the behavior of biologically and pharmaceutically significant molecules at an atomic level of detail, and to design precisely targeted, highly selective drugs for the treatment of various diseases. Among its core technologies is Anton, a proprietary special-purpose supercomputer that DESRES designed and constructed to vastly accelerate the process of molecular dynamics simulation. DESRES uses Anton machines and high-speed commodity hardware, together with machine learning methods and other computational techniques, in both internal and collaborative drug discovery programs.
